Default URGENT: Side Mirror Question

Folks I have an urgent question because I must fix my vehicle today. I am replacing the drivers side mirror glass and I need to know what purpose the copper prong serves in the picture. It is a close up of the back of a mirror. I ask because I think that when I take off the existing glass one of the two of these prongs might be missing. I previously replaced just the turn signal indicator and had problems removing and reinstalling the mirror glass. I may have lost one of them.

In the picture the piece is center (left right) and about 2/3rds of the way from top to bottom.

Thanks!

Do you have heated mirrors?

Just speculation but perhaps just anti-vibration stabilizers? There are just two of them

the long copper one that showing in the picture near the bottom is for mirror position limit switch. Meaning when you adjust mirror to its limit, the motor will stop. If without those, when mirror hits its limit, you will here the gear lliping clicks because the motor will keep running as long as you hold the adjustment switch. Not a big deal if you have adjusted mirror and not constantly readjust them to the limits.

Yes I have heated mirrors which is why I'm replacing the glass. When I replaced the turn signal light I removed the original glass. I carefully pulled off the wires on the back and still managed to pull one wire connector right off the back of the mirror. My attempt to fix it was in vein. The heater does not work now which is why I'm replacing it. My car has the most expensive glass with BSM, heating, and auto dimming.

thanks, what about the other one? in my haste to reinstall the original glass (after replacing the turn signal) I may have lost one of them, if the other one serves no function then I know where to put the only one I may have unless this is a part that can be purchased?

thanks for your help!

you broke one of the black wires?

did you pull it off of the mirror? if so, you'll need to buy a new mirror unless someone sees this thread and knows how to macgyver a fix.

if you are talking about position limit switch, there are two, one for horizontal limit and other for vertical limit
