Engine stall recall - TRAC off, check engine post recall
Hi,
I'm new here, but I've browsed this forum a lot over the years. This site has been very helpful. I now have a 2014 GX460 and still in great condition a 2006 IS250 (in the hands of my high school senior).
Less than two weeks ago I got the fuel pump/engine stall recall done. Since then, the car initially had trouble starting (long starts) and then the check engine light came on, with a TRAC off warning on the display. Has anyone else experienced this? The long start managed to work itself out after a few days so the dealer couldn't look at that (couldn't replicate it). They said that the check engine light was because the gas cap wasn't on properly or something like that. The light went off, but its back on today with the TRAC off warning again. I'm working from home so I haven't put any gas in the car since before it went in for the recall work. I'll be taking it back to the dealer this coming week. Was curious if anyone else had this problem after the recall? By the way, the trouble codes detected after the recall are P0456 and P1604
Thanks!

OMG! he posted codes! have a big cookie!
anyways, P0456 is the gas cap code, as for the P1604 its due to the extended cranking...but i cannot find a solution or cause.
4runner tacomas & rav4 with the same code.
this is from the 4runner link:
regardless, keep bugging them, because something is up. get recordings when it happens (before you start it, have your phone recording).

If tightened gas cap doesn't get rid of P0456 then must be a loose evap connection somewhere else.
Code of same range after recall work

Sounds to me like the dealer didn't hook something back correctly - several of us, myself included, have had issues after having that recall performed.

Yeah, my dealer informed me they had not connected the lines correctly (this after I already bought a new gas cap). Now it's all good. I complained and received no response from the dealer.

Thank you!
Thanks everyone! It's going back to the dealer on Wednesday. I don't my husband trying to fix it just in case - we don't want any excuses from the dealer that we had touched it. The video @acrad will be very helpful.

Took it back in, they said they rechecked all connections and still had the same error code, so I plunked down the money for a new gas cap. It worked fine for about a week, and guess what light came back on today? Frustrating!
