Magnaflow cat back power increase?
Has anyone installed the Magnaflow cat back on their GX? Does it offer any noticeable power gains/throttle response that would make it worthwhile to purchase? Thx.

Cat-Back systems do not add any meaningful power in the usable RPM range. Sounds more powerful ...

The only thing an aftermarket exhaust adds is drone in the cabin. The factory system is nice and quiet for a reason. SUVs like this are a big *** resonance chamber. I'm taking off my magnaflow this week to put the OEM factory muffler back on. Good thing I kept it...
Don't bother with changing out the intake, the stock system flows so much you could still use it if you went forced induction.

IMHO any Magnaflow system only belongs on an American V8 ... all have that uncontrolled resonance ... maybe appropriate for a Mustang or Camaro or Charger ... but not for a Lexus or any other foreign vehicle ... especially if one is over 25-years-old. Unsophisticated sound based on lazy (sonic) engineering. For me, I like some sound ... but not sound that crosses over into the bad-a$$ category. In my experience, Borla or SuperSprint are the only exhausts that have a sophisticated sound that is close to stock level quiet until one jumps on the throttle ... controlled noise with absolutely no drone at any speed. Have a TRD exhaust on my FJ Cruiser ... made by Borla ... has just the right amount of attitude with absolutely no drone ... as with other Borla exhausts on other vehicles. They have Universal mufflers to replace the stock Lexus GX460 muffler.

I have used SuperSprint in the past ... with Borla being the same ... an amazing controlled and commanding sound while not being obnoxious ... with absolutely no drone.

Hey guys.. does our 460 have a single or dual muffler set up ?
Nevermind : It’s a single muffler.

Other than adding some V8 rumble ... any HP gain is in the RPM range that is effectively unusable under the majority of driving conditions.

What is the factory setup on these? I recently purchased a 2013 GX460 and it appears to have something (cat or resonator) attached to each exhaust manifold, and downstream are two more on each bank. Are some cats while the others are resonators?
