Climate Control has mind of its own
2017 Lexus GX460, sometimes when the car is turned on, the climate control has been shut off by itself. It's also done "odd things" like the fan speed will be at a "1" when nobody ever sets it at such a low level.
Wondered if something similar had happened to others, I had brought it up to a service advisor in the past (under warranty) and it seemed to me they were very dismissive. Problem is, its intermittent, so I can't really pin it down.
Warranty runs out in like 3 weeks, was planning on making a stink one last time. I just don't want some multi thousand dollar climate control module needing to be replaced on my dime.
Anyone else run across this?
thanks

It's not set to "auto" when it does this, right?

That's odd.
are you the only one driving the car? always use the same key? if not, it could it be that the car remembers a setting associated with the other key. I should say that I'm just guessing here as I'm not even sure if this is a feature this car has. I know some cars remember certain settings depending on which key is used to start the car.

If it was just an inconvenience, I'd roll with it, I just don't want to buy a new module if it's failing. These things usually costs thousands. I only have like 3 weeks left on the factory warranty, I'm just wondering how I make the dealership take ownership of the problem. Does something like this throw error codes that are stored?
I guarantee you if I wasn't under warranty, they'd find a way to say they need to replace the control module.

Maybe 1 time out of 10.

now. are there other lexus dealerships in your area that you could take the gx to and have them check.
also stop buy an auto store and have them plug-in just to see if there are any codes.

Not a solution, but here's what I would do. Take it to the dealer to check it out. This will get the problem into their records system, so even if they can't replicate it then, if a module completely fails later, you have some record showing it was already intermittently failing. If it ends up being a bad part, then you can show it was bad while still under warranty and it was their testing that couldn't verify the problem at the time.
I had a different part fail right before warranty just like above. It was only covered because there was a record that I brought it in before the warranty expired.

Thanks, same problem happened again, this time with the stereo just being turned off when car was restarted. Taking it in next week and making sure I have it documented there is a real problem.
