MY 21 GX 460 Premium - Clicking sound when dynamic cruise control is engaged
We just purchase a MY21 GX 460 and a few days ago started noticing that when the cruise control is engaged, car makes a click noise every time it brakes and accelerates. We did not notice this in our test drive. Dealership is telling me this is normal. Are you seeing this in your 20/21 GX?

I wonder if it is brake relay?
Can you tell where it is coming from in the dash?
Any other 20+ owners report similar sound? Looking around I see some others reports this sound from other automakers using auto cruise

@Acrad, i think its the relay as well. Single click noise comes from the pedal area. I did see that subarus and even tacomas make this sound when researching this in the internet. Cannot find anything on 20+ GX. We have an RX and had a GS and they did not make this sound. Can’t believe this is supposed to be normal when Lexus supposed to have very quiet cabin.

Update
Test drove another 2021 GX and the clicking sound was present. Seems to be either a switch or a relay. Its beyond me that they did not figure out a way to eliminate this noise....

I have a 17 with auto cruise and it makes the some sounds mainly a hiss and faint click when brake is engaged. I haven't noticed a true clicking sound otherwise (acceleration seems silent ). Also beeping from LDA is pretty annoying but I guess it makes me safer.
You can disengage the auto brake feature with a button under the steering column. I haven't messed with this as I want the pre crash and auto braking on. But you could test it that way. I assume you would have standard cruise control with the system disabled

Perhaps the hardware change to accommodate the pedestrian piece on '20+ "Lexus Safety System+ includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection" is what caused this?
