I’m sure it may help but really? Lexus does so many things good that it baffles me when things like fob range is overlooked. I figured there must be a booster sold on eBay that could extend the range. Not looking to work from a mile away but from my house window to my driveway is reasonable.

Default Key Fob

I was NOT told that my key fob would not remotely start my GX460 after one year unless I paid $16 monthly. Has anyone else had this problem? I gotta tell you, it would of been a show stopper if I had known. If Lexus is this cheap I imagine they do other cheap things, I will not be buying another Lexus!

You may want to look into 3rd party remote start options. Anything commanded by a phone will have a fee though. If traditional short distance like the older RES (10-15) that would obviously be one time purchase/install.

After installing it on mine (10-15), I would advice against installing it. It is not worth it. No customize. Very short range and not to mention engine turns off after unlocking the doors. Useless feature on this car

if it comes with all the other features like other makes then it could be worth it.
other models add the satellite view, gps location, control climate, etc.

if just wanting a regular remote start then for sure aftermarket.

Yes, that's true to any Lexus Enform remote starter.

But, think about it though- A good 2-way remote starter with .5 - 1 mile range (line of sight) will cost about $600 installed upfront. At $160/year it take about 4 years to break even but you don't have to pay it all at once. Also, no extra remote to carry around with Enform remote.

I'm already doing Safety Connect for around $80/year. I'd also up functionality for remote start to $160 if my vehicle supported it.

I just feel the dealerships
should be upfront and let car buyers know that the key fob will only work for one year free (to start the vehicle). With that said we will be returning to the GMC Acadia Denali!

If you haven't called Lexus to tell them these things, they won't change. Please give them a call and let them know their attempt to squeeze money from customers for something that is free with lower-end vehicles is costing them repeat sales.

Oh believe me I called but I could tell by the way they responded to me that they don't care about losing me as a customer. But that's OK, I shouldn't have switched from American made anyway!

Default Unlocking GX 460 w/o a key fob?

I traded my '18 Outback for '20 GX 460. There's a feature in my Outback that was surprisingly useful to me. I setup my Outback that when I hit the button on the tailgate, in certain sequence, I can unlock my car without my key fob with me. Does our GX have this feature? I don't even know how to look it up in the manual.

No, there's no such feature in the GX.
But you can get a wallet credit card key, programed it and not having to carry the keyfob around.
