6,600 mile trip report
6,639 miles to be exact. We travelled through 18 states over the course of 36 days. I work remotely, so was able to manage work and travel on this family roadtrip.
This was the first long drive after my lift and new tires, so I had time to appreciate the difference in ride. Overall it felt well mannered on the road with the following exceptions. On certain road surfaces or roads with steeper crown, the truck pulled to the right and wondered a bit. At the point of becoming annoying, the truck would then ride just fine on other road surfaces. I think I may have had a KDSS lean come and go during the first part of the trip which I think must have been the reason for the pull to the right. It then seemed to sort itself out but would come back every now and again but more subtly. I may try the 'KDSS fix' from youtube if it continues to bother me. I had the tires balanced and rotated at 5,000 miles and they look to be wearing evenly, actually these Nittos don't show much wear at all! A couple times during the trip, my tire pressure light blinked and stayed lit, indicating bad TPMS. However this only happened twice and went away, and didn't come back on for the next 3,000 or so miles, so wasn't a concern. Overall MPG was 17. Most of the driving was highway with a few off-road trails and beach driving mixed in. I was surprised to see many gas stations in Sth Dakota, Wyoming and even Colorado to not have 93 octane fuel, only 87 and 91, even 85! A assume it has something to do with altitude and O2 levels. In Sth Dakota, they even had options of how much ethanol you had in the gas, as much as 20%.
I hit 80,000 miles on this trip and 17,000 since I bought the truck last year. I'm pretty happy with how it's driving and it's utility for trips like this.
Oh, and America is amazing, go out and see it!
Mount Bross train, CO
Sheep Mtn trail, SD (overlooking the badlands)
Got lean?
Old fall river trail, Rocky Mtn Park, CO
Padre Island, TX
Approx. final routing

snacks, never thought I'd get that question!
We had a 50qt fridge onboard along with a bag of snacks and some basic camping supplies. We mainly stayed at hotels, airb&bs and some KOAs so didn't have to bring too much stuff. We made plenty of grocery store stops to re-supply and also ate out a lot, so we weren't 'roughing it' by any means.
