Default Outside temp wrong

The outside temp on my 2010 will not go above 84 degrees. It was 102 today. Would a simple disconnect of the battery solve this or is it something else?

thank you.

Disconnected the battery. Seems to be ok now.

I notice mine is out in left field when I first start the engine, but moves into more reasonable territory after 5 minutes of driving.
I always just thought it was the direct sunlight and lack of airflow, but I am not sure how the temp sensor works.

If you think it might be a failing temp sensor

When I replaced my grille, I also gave it a clean. There was some dirt and a bit of gunk around it.
