Basically just the normal mantaince items. Ie. brakes, oil changes, hoses, clamps. It appears to cover all major components.

Your call for peace of mind but I say no. A lost investment that you will eventually realize

I just sold my 2012 at 108k miles and the major repair was leaking struts which was 1000$ and recently I had to replace the radiator which was not much either apart from that it was very solid yeah i got the secondary pump problem which was cover under Lexus warranty enhancement program. I would save the money if I was you.

Save your money. $3200 is a lot of money. If you really feel compelled to waste your money, make sure you research both companies before you pull the trigger. Look for reviews and customer experiences... generally, aftermarket warranty companies are pretty lousy.

Default Extended warranty question

I called/emailed around and the prices are around the same. Is the Toyota Platinum the same as Lexus Platinum coverage? I noticed they all it listed as L3. If I ever take it in I don't want them to look at me like I'm crazy bringing in a Toyota warranty info for the GX. L3

I've never bought an extended warranty, but I would assume you have to buy it for your specific vehicle. At the very least they are going to register it to your vehicle, so you will find out when you go to buy the warranty if it applies or not.

Please don't waste your money. It's a Lexus, not an American car, or a British car, or a German car. You'll be fine without it.

Jerry in Kansas can get you the best deals, much better then your list here. PM me for contact info, if interested.

That being said, Lexus treats troubleshoots different if on the extended plan and out of the regular warranty; something about how service is compensated, in other words not customer centric as has been my experience. I only got it due to the very high mileage I run. Based on how they addressed the two issues I had, PCS and parking sensor proximity alert system, both in regular warranty and then extended since they never truly solved it under the regular warranty, I probably got a more up close experience than most. Courtesy cars are treated different as well.

Default Extended Warranty

Last Saturday went to leave the house, check engine light on, 4Lo light flashing!
Turns out it was the secondary air injection system, which is under an extended warratny from Lexus.
So that got me thinking...
My GX is CPO with the warranty to 100K miles, currently I'm at 90K.
My question: did anyone purchase an additional warranty after the 100K?
Any comments/suggestions?
Pros/cons?
Thanks,

As an additional question for new owners......is there a “guy” that this forum uses for those who want to buy LEXUS extended warranty for their new GX??

I wonder how prevalent that still is with dealers selling discount warranties these days?

I remember a lot of that back before late aughts

OP: I remain prepared for my eventual failure of that system. I even keep a cheap standalone OBD reader in there to reset the codes if my phone was not available as well as pic tool help with removal of the topside cover over the radiator.

I feel the same way, every cold start up with the way our GX’s roar I’m just waiting for the element to be sucked in and trigger the codes. It’s nice to know it won’t cost anything but a little uneasy knowing it’s a probably scenario.

Might want to look here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/whe....904794/page-4

I considered calling the person people in there use. The pricing seems to be reasonable.
