i think any extended warranty on any toyota/lexus is waste. These are reliable vehicles that dont break down like bmws or audis. Your cash is just profit for someone else. Also in 5-6 years the price for parts will be roughly half of what it is now, so its not too much to get parts replaced if you think about it. Dont get too attached to something thinking you will have this for next 10 years. Most people dont hold on that long

Uh, you guys do realize you can get your money back on the extended if you don't use it.

I bought my ext warranty about 5-6 months after I knew I was going to keep it for a long time. Also, prices may go up on the warranty or state laws may change such that you can't buy it from Jerry above from another state.

These vehicles have too many $1-$5k parts to own without a warranty IMO. E.g., owning a Driver's Support Package eqquipped vehicle outside of warranty period - no way. And these vehicles do break...less than all other brands but they do break.

Definitely worth getting... especially on such an expensive car. Lexus should be reliable, but there's still a human element.. I bought extend warranty for my MB... totally worth it! I had a leaking differential ...warranty took care of a ridiculous $2000 bill... crazy!

Default GX Warranty

My wife and I just purchased a 2015 white/ecru GX 460 Saturday, and we were offered a Zurich extended warranty for $2,095 6yr/60K or a 6yr/70K Lexus Platinum for $2,590. We have decided that we are going to go with a warranty, but were not sure if the prices we were offered were reasonable or not. Looking over the forum I was not able to find any threads talking about Zurich or any recent threads talking about prices paid for their warranty. We were wanting to get a 100K warranty if the prices were reasonable. We just wanted to see what people have paid recently for a Premium warranty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you looked over past threads you will see the extended warrenty is not recommended. You have a Lexus and the extended warrenty is a waste of money.

That wasn't my question, and that's your opinion... If you read past threads there are also plenty of people who prefer them and have used them.. I didn't come to debate warranties with you I just simply ask if it was a reasonable price..

Default GX Warranty

Go to google and look up Jerry Johnson, Midwest Toyota. He can also sell you a Lexus Platinum warranty and most likely for a better price. The last I read was a 7 year/100,000 for the low to mid two thousands. I do not know about the 6 year warranty. Your vehicle does come with a 6 year/70,000 warranty on power train. I would not worry about the power train. I would have concerns about all of the electronics. Mine is a 9 month old 2015. I will wait a few years before I decided on an extended warranty. You can acquire one anytime before 4 years/50,000.

Thank you very much for the information! Is he able to sell a warranty to someone out of state?

Default GX WarrantyYes,

As of a couple of months ago the answer was yes, and I have not read anything disputing that statement.

I had a 2006 gx470 purchased new. I didn't purchase the extended warranty until my original was about to expired. I purchased from Troy Dietrich. I live in Philadelphia and had used is a couple of times at Wilke and never had a problem. I think at the time I purchased 7/70,000 (always had low mileage) and paid about 1550.00 in Aug of 2010. I also purchased another extended warranty once the Lexus one expired at Costco and this too was used at Wilke with no problems. (did not expect to keep the truck this long) This was the first time we have ever held on to a truck for 9 yrs. Prior to this truck we always traded them in before the original warranties ran out. Good luck with your choice. The Costco warranty when I traded in my GX last week, I received a prorated amount back which was half of what I paid for it even though I had used it and the repair cost more then what I paid for the warranty to begin with.
