Default Head lights

On 2015 Lexus GX 460 the lights are not working the same on start up. I just purchased the vehicle and noticed that passenger side head light was to low. Adjusted it up to match the drivers side which was fairly easy.

The issue is when I crank the GX only the drivers side headlight light moves up and down then back to center. The passenger side head light stays stationary and never moves?

So my issue is why is only the drivers side head light moving up and down then to center and passenger side stays in place? Is this because I adjusted the passenger side head light? Everything works fine elsewhere.

is there a fuse or something for the passenger side that could be blown or is there something else I am missing? Thanks for any help you can mend on this matter!

Default Auto Leveling Headlights???

On my 2015 Lexus GX460 only the the drivers side is working. When I crank the suv up only the driver side goes up and down then to center. The passenger side just stays at center and does move at all? I am trying to figure out why and if there is a way to turn this function off till I am able to get corrected? To be honest I don't even need this feature as it appears to me just something that can fail. The only thing that I have done was to the passenger side. I adjusted that light up to match the drivers side due to it being really low when driving. Now both lights are aligned. I just need some options to fix or disable the auto headlight leveling system till fix or to stay off. If anyone can help with me this, I thank you.

Thanks

Btw, you should Keep the auto leveling. It keeps you from blinding other drivers when you are going uphill and also helps keep light better on the road when going downhill.

If I can figure out what would cause that one light not be adjusting, i will keep the feature.

No errors either?

Post #21.. non AVS/RAHC just have single rear height sensor

Since one headlight is responding it seems there is a potential issue with vertical servo in problematic headlight. I'll have to dig if there are some other diagnostics outside of Techstream.

I'll have to look at electrical on '14-'19 to see if one can easily plug the other headlight in for testing purposes. This would help rule out if you have a defective assembly or if another issue is at hand.

By non AVS/RAHC you means crawl control? If so no sir it does not have any of that just base model. I can even go into the control center in center of the dash via sterring wheel controls and turn off leveling on the head lights. What are the other causes you may suspect if the higher sensor is not the problem if only has one but only one light is auto leveling?

No... on crawl control...

other than the 10-13 base models with halogen headlights all 460s even without AVS/RAHC (adjustable shock/airbags on read) have at least one rear height sensor for headlight auto-leveling.

I need to research whether you can plug your right headlight into the left headlight to see if errant behavior occurs or not. This would tell us if you need to replace headlight or if there is a further investigative issue with wiring, sensors or ECU.

There are Active Tests you an do with Techstream to control motor and such for testing but you would need an install of that tool setup to perform those test.

•• Are you seeing this dashboard gauge cluster light illuminating during the dashboard lamp check before starting? Need to rule this bulb is not burned out indicating a problem. You would need to use Techstream or something like OBD Link to pull actual codes for this system. A generic OBD reader generally wouldn't be able to see extended Toyota/Lexus codes.

The motor in the light has power but is not working. Does that mean that I need a new light for that side? I just know those lights are $$$$.

Sorry...I couldn't tell you either way at this point.

I would be doing an Active Test with Techstream. If this could force the light to pivot up and down you would know it is good and something else.

If confirmed bad I'm sure someone has or will attempt servo repair but that is a PN that wouldn't be known unless someone has disassembled one and documented various parts.

I can't remember offhand if the electrical connectors are identical on each side to attempt assembly swap test.
