That wheel well cover plastic scratches easily. My left side cover is trashed from bottom of golf club bag. Very soft but I’m not going to worry about it. The rest of my GX looks great, inside and out!

Default interior scratches on silver

my wife was cleaning her '22 GX today and sent me this from the kids door handle. Anyone have any tried and true ways to deal with these interior scratches? I've searched on here and all I have found was the plastic/paint is soft and it happens.

You might want to try some Meguiar's Scratch X. I know it works well on exterior car surfaces but not sure how it would work on plastic. You may want to try just a small area to see how it does before doing the whole area. You can get it at Wal-Mart or any auto store.

polish, buffing compound, maybe a super fine wet lapping paper. have one of those headlight restore kits? sponge with toothpaste?

On a side note, I absolutely HATE the silver painted plastic Lexus decided to put in these cars. It looks so cheap and dated. What were they thinking?

I also have some scratches on mine.

Always hated this trend. Now piano black is the next thing in cars. Mine isn’t quite as scratched up but i have little parts where it’s completely ripped off and you can see the black underneath.

I don’t think you’ll get those back looking good with polish or anything like it. Just my opinion. I would look into just replacing them if they are sold individually.

Agree … it’s silver paint on black plastic … so best to use a mild polish as a best option, but will probably have limited success in visually reducing to an acceptable level.

Is repainting an option?

if the scratches arent below the top color a lap or polish should work. when i worked in the tribology lab we did paint reliability tests all the time and would see at what point a lap or polish would no longer work.

if you can remove scratches from a plastic headlamp assy why not from this paint? this paint is way lower durometer than the headlamp assy

one caution is that this surface finish RA and RMS (smoothness) could be exceeded with incorrect lapping paper or polish. too fine and you end up with a super shiny spot.

Default Did you find a solution?

Same thing is happening to my interior door from my kid. He actually kicked it today and chipped some of the aluminum trim above the door handle off! I wonder if I can get touch up paint but I don’t know how to color match. Can’t find anything online. This is a 2023

I wouldn’t bother doing anything. The scratches will kind of buff out on their own with normal handling. You’ll still be able to see the scratches under the right lighting, but they will be invisible most of the time. Just be glad the kids are not running their greasy little nose picking fingers on the headliner. Next time you drive them, strap them to the roof rack,

Lexus should be ashamed for building a vehicle so tough but cannot handle children. Very shameful. Almost seppuku level.

You guys should see what 2020-2022 Covid pandemic and ritualistic overusage of liquid or gel hand sanitizer has done to vehicular interiors. Besides alcohol, those sanitizers were full of chemicals that stayed on your hand and has killed tons of automotive interiors because people became so accustomed to using it that they couldn’t pass a dispenser without ritually rubbing it all over their hands. Then the alcohol, essential oils, and volatile compounds break down and interior parts look like crap. But that’s a whole other topic. Vinyls backed by foam, alacantara (really a polyester) and painted surfaces fall apart fast when continually exposed to the nasty Chemicals in those sanitizers.

Just let your interiors wear in a little bit. No need to cover them in plastic to keep them pristine. It’s a 4Runner on prom night not a Bentayga.
