I see coolant level right at min level when cold and at middle after engine running for 10 min. Shall I top up? thx
Forgot to mention that I see no obvious leaks and I have 95k miles for my 2015. I never touched anything related to coolant so far (not like I do regular maintenance on oil/tran/diff oil).
Water expands about 4% when it reaches boiling point so coolant/water mix will be similar. That is why there is an external tank in the first place the system allows coolant into the tank as the engine warms then the rad cap seals itself. When the engine cools the radiator cap allows coolant to be drawn back into the radiator.
This is why having a properly functioning radiator cap is critical if the cap doesn't work properly coolant can be pushed out but not drawn back in so the rad level keeps going down. tldr; always buy an OEM rad cap.
Last month, when I checked, it was below the L line. I ordered toyota pink coolant and filled upto F line. When the engine runs, I noticed it went above the F line and there is much enough space above to expand. I have only 40000 miles.
I got my pink sllc2 delivered today. I unscrewed radiator cap, the original pink coolant is all the way to the top of radiator neck, it looks to me there is no leak or pressure loss at all. With that, I filled overflow tank with sllc2 to the max line. I think I am all set. Thank you all.
