Has your situation resolved? I have a 460 about to be delivered and i had asked for the towing package to be installed before hand. Now they say that the part new is not available. I need more than the simple 5000 lb option. The dealer is offering to take a hitch off a 2021 and install it on mine for $1600. This sounds steep to me. Do you have ny idea what the list price is for this?

$1600 for the hitch and to moving it between vehicles...holy *****! Tell them to pound sand as the hitch MSRP is ~$375 and you could get them for ~$300 if you waited for a sale before they went MIA.

Also, the 6500lb rating is only valid if you're using a load distribution hitch just an FYI.

@Mild53 I took delivery of a 2022 within the last month and ran into the same issue. I searched Facebook marketplace in multiple areas and found an unused OEM hitch from an individual in Illinois. It cost me around $400 plus $150 shipping plus $250 in installation at the dealer. It was a part that had been previously bought new in 2020 before the stop sale on the hitch. Unfortunately you will have to pay a premium or wait until Lexus makes it available again. (hopefully at the end of August as others have stated.)

They stopped sell on those too and neither the dealers or the phone agents are saying why. It must be something that they discovered that could get the company sued. But for whatever reason they didn’t recall the ones they already sold. I am guessing they found an issue with some order and is remaking them which is taking a while.

Went with Curt Hitch 5k LB rated hitch (class 3 IIRC). Just need to mount my 1up bike carrier. Don’t plan to tow anything. Very happy @~ $130

Can also attest to the quality as we've towed with it, it looks very similar to that of the Tacoma OEM hitch on the 2nd gen having seen them driving around town. Waiting on the Class IV whenever the heck Lexus finally decides to re-release it for us.

I bought a used one at an automotive recycler. I have since replaced it with a Victory 4x4 rear bumper. I’m fairly sure it would cost a bit to ship as it would need a pallet.
I will sell mine for a small fortune with local pick up. 😉 NW Louisiana.
I only had. 1 spacer plate. I hacked a couple out of flat bar.
I have the hardware and 7/4 trailering plug

I just hope they don't assume the towing capacity wasn't really important to any GX owners and decide to stop making the hitch for good (though I'm sure it's not important to 95%).

@ WoodFire --- Like you, I've also started to distrust many of the Corp Boards and the BS their marketing teams dream up . But in this case , I don't think they have much of a choice since the Competition they're up against will force them to find a solution and give us the 6500 pound rating they advertise. Way too many Boat & Campers out there to brush aside. That towing capacity was one of the reasons I bought my GX ..and now ? What really has me wondering is how none of the Media or even the competition have picked up on this and started looking into it, The ability to Tow with a GX is still part of the sales pitch ...in a way , right now , this is false advertising and once you buy a new Lexus (like we just did) and all we were given was a Wire Harness in a Bag and told to have a custom Hitch made ...looks like Lexus is hiding something and can't be trusted . How is it this has gone on for so long and no one ever investigated if there was a Safety issue we should know about ? ...makes you wonder .

The lack of communication even within the Lexus network is what's worrying. Although my '22 came with a hitch, I can't help but be invested in this thread because WHAT IF the reason for halting production is serious and it affects the '22 MY? It would be nice if they at least dropped a hint.

I came from a 4Runner to my GX and the extra towing capacity was definitely part of my decision process too. You would think one of the many many YouTubers would dive into this and see if Lexus would make any kind of public statement.

I had heard of folks ending up with a hitch already installed on their 22's. Mine didn't come with one so I am stuck waiting. I would think your vehicle itself is probably fine but I would watch for a recall, TSB, or whatever when the new ones come out in case you got a defective one. I would be shocked if that happened but I have been shocked by what's going on many times in the last few years.

My GX was delivered without a hitch receiver in April. At dealership I was told Lexus issued a stop sale because of risk of crack development in vehicle subframe. The case is under evaluation and a part may be redisigned.
