Default 2022-2023 Tow hitch receiver.

Hello all,

I'm a new member with 22 GX 460.
I've been searching for a tow hitch receiver (lexus OEM) ever since the purchase of the car but I'm not sure the old version fits '22.
1. Spoke to a guy at my local Lexus service dept. he said they were instructed not to sell those by Lexus, in fact they don't have anything available. (He also mentioned it's not about the supply shortage due to pandemic)
2. At the official Lexus webpage, can't find the tow hitch receiver in the accessory list.

Was anyone able to configure the vehicle with the receiver or see one with the hitch receiver factory-installed?
The part no. PT22860140 is the one that fits the previous models.

Thank you,

Following as I’m currently negotiating on a ‘22 GX460 and will need to tow with it. I believe I’ve read there are aftermarket hitches available but they are class 3 hitches vs the oem which is class IV

99.9% sure that he 22 uses same hitch as the 21 and earlier as there has been no change to the frame, (to my knowledge), so if you can find a tow bar from an earlier GX you should be fine, I know it will not be a brand new one.

That's what I thought too. Thank you for the tip. Will update here if I get one and installed.

Think that will help many here on the Forum, luckily our 21 had it installed from dealer/port

I purchased the same old tow hitch kit from bell lexus for about 250 delivered but I see they are sold out as of right now. I had my local lexus dealer install for about 350 as I couldn’t even get the first bolt to budge with my cheap impact wrench lol

regardless Yes of course the kit is the same. Nothing new on that end of the truck. No cutting etc

There is a stop-sell on hitches currently. The dealer service guy you spoke to was correct. Your only option right now is to find one used ('10-'21 will work) or get a 5k-rated mini-hitch from Curt or the like to tide you over until they become available again.

Any insight as to why Lexus would stop selling hitches?

Supply chain issues, same as everyone else.

From OP's 1st post:

This is why I was wondering what the cause was.

There is a used hitch on CL in North San Diego. Shipping would likely be an issue. The ad has been up for a while so if it is still available I would initially offer 200 maybe 175.

I had a ‘22 Premium ordered which included hitch but, it arrived with no hitch. I decided to change to luxury and was unable to add hitch. Dealer advised recall and immediate stop sale. Would have to do aftermarket or used.

- Hoping for mine to arrive by mid feb.

I got the first 22 GX in town on OCT 5th and it came with the hitch installed. I hope it’s ok to use it. I don’t see why they’d put a stop sell on a part because of supply issues. That makes no sense.

I am thinking of getting the Curt hitch. I just bought a 22 GX and I noticed it had a wiring set in a plastic bag I assume for a hitch. Where do you start in wiring for a tow hitch?

I just looked at a UTube video by GX Bob on wiring and I did not realize that the GX comes with a built in wiring receptacle just to the left of the spare tire. Also the wire kit in a plastic bag was for trailer brakes if needed.
I have ordered a Curt 5K 13043 tow hitch from Amazon and they said that they cannot confirm that it will fit a 2022 GX. I assume that it should fit as previously mentioned there has not been any frame changes for the 2022 model from previous year GX's. I don't plan to haul anything but it will be nice to have if I need it. Good way to place a Razorback trailer plug as a Hog fan.
