Hello everyone. I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find using the search function.
So, does anyone know if the GX will be completely revamped for MY23. I'm in the market but could wait a year. But then who knows what the changes would be. I'm guessing I'd still want the 22, but I want to make an informed decision.
Just got my hands on the 23 Blackline. It comes with all the stuff I really need for minimal off the beaten path driving I do now. I wish it had the Multi Terrain Select, though. That's probably the biggest drawback in terms of capabilities and resale.
I can get why people are not a fan of the stone interior, but Im a big fan.
Proven / Time Tested Design = Reliability. Why anybody is looking forward to a major redesign is beyond me. Any first-year release no matter the manufacturer is not worth the "teething" troubles for the first 1-2 years. My take ... buy the last year of the current if you are a long-term owner. For those that lease-flip every 2-3 years ... have fun with your "technology" that has absolutely no transportation value let alone off-road capability.

Something new with more power and tech. This is why I am considering a 2022 Acura MDX type-S. The $70K+ price tag is a bit much though. I have looked at the Genesis GV80 and still around $70K used with the larger 3.5 engine.
Honda WAS the defining brand from a reliability standpoint ... as was Acura ... but their reputation has been abysmal as of late ... and I WAS a loyal customer in the past.
I am a car guy, but cannot understand why someone would want a vehicle like an Acura Type S. Get an actual sports car rather than wasting money on a tuned crossover.
A Lexus GX is a totally different style of vehicle than a MDX. Yes, they are both considered mid-sized SUVs; however, the MDX is a unibody crossover more akin to a car while the GX is a body on frame vehicle along the lines of a truck.
And what tech does the MDX have that you would want? A big screen without touch capability? A bunch of annoying safety features? Piano gloss black everywhere? A massive "DRIVE" **** in the center of your dash? Disco tech interior lighting? An annoying digital gauge cluster? Who cares. Just more stuff that will break and/or be outdated in a few years.
I would get the 2023 4Runner if you want GX capability with updated tech in the near future.

Looking back it looks like my 2010 gave the first owner and all subsequent owners (ie. Me) good service. I think it really does matter the brand and vehicle on first model year releases / redesigns.

No question ... Toyota / Lexus does it better than the majority of auto makers ... and given the Prado lineage and WW volumes ... this platform is about as dialed in as they come. Honda ... just look at how they handled the fuel dilution issue ... criminal ... not the same Honda that had a stellar reputation for reliability.

Could not agree more ... buy a purpose built vehicle and not a compromise. I sometimes wish the "Cute-Ute" term would come back in reference to the pretend "SUV's". Marketers have polluted this space much like they did with cup holder counts being a major design feature back in the 90's Mini-Van craze period. Easy money ... targeting customers who like (soon to be obsolete) shiny objects that only add to complexity and reliability issues.

Because not everyone has the luxury of owning multiple vehicles that can fit their needs/family needs. Space, money, not actual car people but want a "sporty" vehicle, "sporty" looks, etc. People are buying them so manufacturers make them.

... yet another example of the "dumbing down" of America. Love those plastic diamond plate pattern rocker panel covers on the Subaru Outback ... sporty (looking) and off-road (not) ready.
Looking for something different and no need for off-road. I just need the cargo space. I get it if the off-road is a priority though. To each their own with needs from a crossover or body on frame off-road vehicle so looking for what would make me happy...
Sheat, I may wind up with another GX due to price and reliability
