I am not aware of any Lexus service campaigns for paints issues on the GX 460

I have owned multiple Toyota / Lexus vehicles in white ... and my experience is that the white paint is incredibly thin, versus the metallic / clear coat paint colors that are significantly more durable. Love white paint given it always looks clean in comparison to the darker colors ... but never again ... IMHO is way too fragile.

Man this makes me worried. I have a Starfire white pearl. Had a 2005 GX470 with blizzard white pearl with no problems. The truck’s paint was still shinny like new by 2021 when I got rid of it. Lexus white paint is not thinner than any other paint. I believe David from automotive press measured the white paint and it was actually thicker than other paint for it is a premium 2 stage paint.

Not diminishing those experience the issue but Starfire Pearl paint issues are more or less an anomaly from owner reports. The few reports are minimal compared to what happened with Blizzard White Pearl on the later model GX 470s. I see those reports all the time on GXOR.

Has there been any type of bulletin on this issue from Lexus? I had a Camaro that back in the 80's after it was just a couple of years old, same thing happened. We had a good rainstorm and the paint literally peeled off the hood. Of course, being GM, it was not their issue, must've been something I had done.

There was a campaign to fix mid-year 2008 and 2009 GX 470s but nothing on GX 460. Frankly.. this thread is about the most info you will find in the normal GX info spots on the very limited reports of this problem on the 460.
