Default 2010 gx

Recently purchased a 2010 GX 460 with 122,000 miles. Short thread to log my minor build.

- 1 owner vehicle serviced at Lexus dealership from new
- Ultra Premium trim with air suspension, radar cruise, front camera, crawl control etc.
- Couple rock chips but otherwise great exterior and interior condition
- Some surface rust underneath but nothing major, especially for a 12 year old Canadian vehicle
- Pre-purchase inspection completed at a Toyota dealership identified a couple of issues; front brake calipers, brake pads, transfer case pinion seal, sway bar bushings, and battery all replaced before purchase
- Post-purchase maintenance baselined by Lexus dealership; transmission, brake and steering fluid replaced, oil and filter change, driveshaft greased and spark plugs replaced
- Krown rust treatment completed
- Installed 5 x 265/70R17 BFG K02 Load C's on 17" TRD replica rims (17.0" x 8.0" | +5 | 6x139.7 | 106.1mm satin black)
- Full size spare fit underneath no problem. Definitely a tight fit but squeezed in fully inflated without too much effort
- Rubbing on front driver side bolt on running board. Used leatherman saw to trim plastic and fixed rubbing
- Zeera Suvolt Gen 3 magsafe wireless charger on dash (magnetically holds and charges iPhone 12)
- Plano sportsman trunk held in back with ratchet strap, small size fit perfectly between tie-downs, holds washer fluid, emergency kit, jumper pack etc.
- Ordered crafted-by-matt cupholder insert with cut-outs for 1L Nalgene and 20oz Yeti tumbler

Todo
- Replace headlight, fog light, and interior bulbs with LED's
- Headlight restoration
- Exterior wax and polish
- Interior detailing
- Replace AC fan motor (slight vibration/noise at certain fan speeds)
- Weathertech mats

Exterior as purchased.

Interior as purchased.

New wheels and tires. 265/7R17 BFG K02's Load C on 17X8" +5 TRD replicas.

Another shot with wheels and tires. 265/70R17 spare fit underneath.

Tires were rubbing on drivers side plastic liner. Removed screw and trimmed plastic with Leatherman saw.

Passenger side had no rubbing. Replaced screw with flat-head but otherwise left as is.

Small Plano sportsman trunk fit perfectly between tie downs.

Nice rig. I also rubbed on the drivers running board bolt with my 265/70/17 Ridge Grapplers.

Looking forward to seeing your build continue!

Nice set up. Stash the 2 third row seat belts by both hooking
the webbing through the wall bracket And inserting the seat belt
tang into the outer slot in the bracket as well. Keeps the buckle
from swaying around and making an un-Lexus-like noise!

That looks like a fairly loaded up '10 for Canada. I see it already has crawl and likely MTS as well. It appears to be the "Ultra Premium Package."

Is side camera only only passenger side mirror along with the front one of course?

I think it was '12 that console cooler option was added.

A few '10 links

Thanks for the links. Yes it has crawl and MTS, and it actually has side view cameras on both sides. The steering wheel button only activates the front and passenger side cameras. In MTS and 4low you can turn on the dual side cameras (driver + passenger). If anyone knows how to activate both side-view cameras in normal driving mode with the steering wheel button please let me know!

My only gripe with the truck is seat comfort. It almost feels like the lumbar isn't going down all the way, or there's something else in the seat sticking into my lower back. I think I saw someone talking about the active headrest system causing issues. Anyone have any fixes for this?

Welcome to the club jcgx. Nice truck loaded up. I have the same color combo and love it. They are great trucks and I’m sure with the increase in used auto prices it still commanded $$. Good luck and keep us updated on the mods.

That configuration with driver side camera wasn't available in US until 2020 model year. I have most of the hardware including ECUs to try to pull it off but probably won't happen for years. Far easier to retrofit the '14+ with 3rd party options.

Canada and other world markets this was a somewhat common configuration.

Looks great! Love all the extra features.

I just love my 2010. I got mine at 130,000 mi, and it did have a little rust taking hold, not terrible but clearly no one washed underside in winter.

I'm curious what a the underside of a 2010 looks like in Canada. I bet you guys take better care of your vehicles there!

Well it doesn’t look particularly great, but nothing is actually rotted through and no holes or serious flaking. I took it to get a full Krown rust protection right after I bought it, and will plan to get it done before each winter. Hoping that will help keep the rust at bay.

Installed a Zeera Suvolt Gen3 MagSafe wireless charger. It comes with a vent mount, and a sticky mount. I used the sticky ball mount that uses 3M-type tape and attaches to the dash. It has a small magnetic disk that can pivot. The wireless charging puck attaches to the small disc magnetically, and charges via USB-A. My iPhone 12 then attaches magnetically and charges. I thought I was going to miss CarPlay with the GX, but with this mount and the seamless Bluetooth connection I’m really not bothered.

Just upgraded the suspension on my 2010 GX. The AVS air suspension was feeling quite tired after 133,000 miles.

- Bilstein 6112 front coil overs on 5th spring perch for 1.5” lift
- Bilstein B12 rear spring for 1” lift
- Bilstein 5100 rear shocks
- Icon air suspension coil conversion kit

Shop advised that my control arm bolts were all seized after 13 Canadian winters. Decided to swap out control arms, bolts, bushings and other hardware.
- Lexus OEM lower control arms
- SPC Racing upper control arms

Still riding on 265/70R17 BFG KO2’s on TRD replica rims.

Really happy with the outcome. I wanted minimal lift but like the stance. Ride is substantially improved, much less wallowy over bumps. Handling and steering feels much tighter.
