Should I get a Lexus PPI?
Hey guys so I’m a long time Toyota enthusiast and lately I’ve owned a few Lexus’s. I just purchased a 2014 GX from Carvana. I was looking for a newer GX but I got a really good deal on the 14 with only 46k miles 1 owner vehicle. Carvana has a 7 day exchange policy If your not happy with the car and a small warranty included. With this crazy market Carvanas usually sky high price was better than most dealers that I visited. I don’t overly trust dealers to do the right thing but should I have the dealer do an inspection on it? I’ve read allot of information on the forums already and I’m addicted to GXbob on YouTube now lol. I can’t wait to get started!!!!

I would suggest you take it to a shop that specializes in Toyota and Lexus for a quick inspection --not sure how much that costs, while you're within the 7-day window. Congrats!

Def have it inspected within the 7 days if you know someone. Bought my ‘16 from Auto Lender, which is a similar outfit to Carvana. Test drove it fine at the facility. Local roads so I didn’t get it above 45mph. Signed and done. Took it on the highway a few days later and vibrations in the steering wheel. Went back, needed an alignment. I got charged for it, as it was sold “as is” even though I had just purchased it. not a big deal as it was $35 but i was thinking what else could go wrong. Thankfully, aside from the atrocious gas mileage, the car has been bulletproof. Despite the clumsy 0-60 (magazines quote 7.5secs but to me it feels like 10 seconds) I really like how smooth it rides and the kdss really keeps this thing planted on curves. I retrofitted mts and crawl control. havent actually used either one.

Thanks man, picking it up on Saturday the 14th. I’m going to call tommorow to make an appt at the Lexus dealer for Monday. Years ago I had a ES I’d purchased checked out and they didn’t really have a real inspection, the lady had me just do a oil change and get a multi point inspection. I have a great mechanic but he’s not going to have the time to actually put it on a lift which at that point would be pointless. I’m in Northern NJ if anybody knows of any Toyota specialist in the area. Problem is I don’t think they break down enough to be a sustainable business to be Toyota specialist.

I recommend you have any vehicle new or used inspected. This includes a scan tool connected to find any hidden codes. You would be shocked to see how many vehicles are damaged during delivery alone. When purchasing new, ask to see the PDI sheet and double check everything. Unfortunately the average customer gets emotionally excited when purchasing a vehicle. This results in a lot of missed issues.
The best attitude is to act as if you are a dealer inspecting a trade in. Look for anything possibly wrong with the vehicle in order to reduce its value.
