I have been loving my Beat-Sonic unit. One thing that bothered me was Siri always sounded like she was yelling at me (audio was slightly distorted/clipping). I talked with Eric and he confirmed that you can adjust the VR and Nav baseline volume in the Settings section from the 4-icon screen that shows up on unit start-up. I turned down both VR (Siri) and Nav volumes from 48 to 40 and the distortion/clipping is gone. Figured I would pass along.

As always, GX Bob comes through. Between this video and Eric's own install videos, anyone should feel comfortable doing this install themselves.
Bob's method makes for an exceptionally clean permanent install but, if I were to install my unit again, I would still locate both boxes in the center console forward of the shifter like Eric does for easy access if I ever need to troubleshoot or replace components.
I've used my wireless BeatSonic CarPlay unit everyday for 8 months and have never needed to access the components or wiring but it sure is nice to know that I can get to them in about 2 minutes without tools or needing to remove the radio or Nav screen.

Bumping - anyone with experience with the 2010-2013 Beat Sonic? My wife has been asking if we can add carplay. I will prob hire a shop to install since I am mechanically incompetent. Any issues or mostly happy users?

I had my Beatsonic installed at a local shop yesterday, I use Android Auto and the misses use CarPlay. Functions great only thing I need to do is double-check the audio settings for the phone and the audio, sound quality is better through Bluetooth than Aux that it uses.

The Grom is AWFUL.... professional install and it still didn't work properly as it kept on freezing and wouldn't connect properly. I went back to the installer multiple times. Grom would never return there phone calls. They had to uninstall mine and a few others. They couldn't get in touch with Grom to get a refund. My car was a 2008 Lexus GS350. Even if some had success with Grom, STAY AWAY!!!

I’ll let you know in a few weeks, ordered mine last night. It is on backorder but should deliver before the first week of December is over. The reviews that I saw for it seem good. Having Carplay vs the native maps in the GX will be so much nicer to drive with. I’ve been using my Wrangler with carplay for the past 7 months or so and it makes the nav system in the GX seem like it was etched in slate.

I had to have the dealer take out the unit after many attempts to reach them and resolve the multiple issues I had with the unit. Since I instructed my dealer to buy the grom, I may not even receive a credit! Three months later nothing from Grom...I am taking a big hit! YOU CANNOT REACH THEM....the unit has worked for some, but it's not worth the gamble!

I'm fortunate that I live near their facility and I believe the can install it....I'm busy so that works perfect! I'm confidant to move forward after reading the thread. Thank you!

I purchased the beatsonic and will put it in this coming weekend. Also picked up some USB-C chargers that I’ll install at the same time to keep my kids happy in the back.

My worry is that the 2010-2013's have a capacitive touch screen that doesnt allow for swiping. I kinda wonder how carplay will work with no swipe ability.

Actually all GX prior to OEM CarPlay, all have the capacitive touch screens. I have installed similar aftermarket CarPlay and works just fine. Not the best experiences as far as the touch screen concern, it misses here there from time to time. But in general, it functions in CarPlay as expected.

Going into the 13. If it works well, I’ll put it in the 17 too. My 13 is just such a great ride, it is more comfortable than the 17 as the seats seem to be more firm with better leather.
