Default Gx 460 will not start after car wash.

I have had this car for about 3 months now. I have never had issues with it starting. Today, I started it up, went to get food, started it up again about 1 hour later with no issues. I bring it through the car wash, put it in neutral. After the car wash, car will not start. It turns over, the lights and monitor and AC turn on, but car does not. We took it to auto zone and they said wires appeared to be fastened well, battery was good, everything looked good from what they could see. Anyone have any ideas?

The car says “engine oil pressure low”, and throws several other issues up on the dashboard as well. The car only tries to start while I’m holding down the button.

Did you do the "Underbody Wash" ? Those sprayers direct water at 3,000-4,000 psi ... so any "waterproof" electrical connectors that get a direct hit can be easily compromised. Drying out can address the issue, but if things got shorted out ...

Check your sunroof drains as well... common entry point as they quickly overwhelm the channel around sunroof and water then heads down the A-Pillars onto ECUs below.

drivers side behind the fogs theres a pile of electrical stuff. high pressure water jets can get in the wiring. might be worthwhile to look in that area for signs of water intrusion into connectors.
i had a custom light controller in that area, supposedly waterproof, but not for pressure. had issues it was filled with water. took it out, redesigned to not use a controller, then also added some plastic covers underneath to protest from water jets

Update:

After waiting a day, car starts up fine. I think something got wet and dried out. This is good, but still need to address the issue before this happens again. I did do the undercarriage wash, so I feel like the jets sprayed something that should’ve been protected…

Be sure you check out those sunroof drains as well

The triggering of the low oil pressure indicator does seem to point more to underbody though

You are at 166k miles with the GX, all vehicles at that mileage need to factor in that plastic electrical connectors begin to get brittle, and their rubber seals begin to deteriorate and crack.

With that being said, add 1000s psi blast of streaming water, and things will go hinky.

Back in the previous century, you just needed to cover your distributor cap and coil, and pressure wash away.

Glad it worked itself out.

Upgraded my car (2010 109k miles) wash to get frame and underbody washed. Car died as I was leaving the bay. BUT, right before that car was sitting, idling with ac on for about 15/20 minutes then a quick 5 minutes drive to carwash and it sat for another good 5 minutes. So I don’t know either idling or a high pressure (maybe combination of bot) caused the warning lights. I had low oil pressure light and high transmission temperature warnings and of course check engine, 4lo, and traction control lights on.

Good news is it started with no warning lights after I let it sit for a few hours.

for gx460? I have the same problem after an automatic car wash, after 5 minutes it doesn't start but cranks, I've had this problem for more than 3 weeks, I changed a bad EFI ECM fuse and spark plugs with new coils, but no change just cranks, no start , the fuel pump is good. I have P060A code.
my car no start just crank

As @Acrad suggests Clean the Sunroof Drains!!! The same thing happened to me while at the Lexus Dealership when they took it through the car wash. They cleaned the drains and dried everything out but didn't log it bc this will NOT be covered by warranty or I think even insurance since it is considered maintenance and they didn't want me to get rejected if I had some other issue down the road.

I’m late to the party, but did you ever figure out what the issue was? My wife’s gx just died on her way home from the car wash.

@Brosky

I'm not sure what specifically gets wet to cause issues under the engine (it can happen...don't know specific area) .... but common areas are clogged sunroof drains (or sunroof seal that lets in too much water) or windshield seal onto ECUs below via A-Pillar

Have you pulled codes?
