It could be that the 265-55R19 is not a common configuration here in the US but common in other countries. The list includes many brands and models not sold in the US. Even those brands/models sold in the US could have different wheel packages in other countries. The R19 spec is definitely sold in the US. However, It is clear the R18 spec has more options here in the US.

The 19" wheel thing is no big deal to me, as I picked the Premium Plus trim partially because I preferred the 19's over the 18's. We had 19's on our RX for years, in a 255/55-19 size, IIRC, with no issue finding tires. The problem with the GX's is that 265/55-19 isn't common. Step up to 275/55 and things improve noticeably. Michelin offers CrossClimates in that size, which is what I'll look at first when the Dunlops wear out. We loved them on our RX. Speaking of the Dunlops, they've been fine for me on two long (2000 mile) trips and some torrential rain in the first 6000 miles I've had the car.

If its pulling to the right I think this is normal in the gx460. Traveling down most roads, if I hold the wheel straight it'll go straight, but when I let go, any bumps or imperfections cause it to drift right. Just letting go of the wheel sometimes causes it to droop to the right.

This is very noticeable when using dac on very bump roads.

Ive brought this up on gxor and had a lexus tech who owns a gx, say that he experiences the same and cant figure out why.

Maybe its suspension tuning due to kdss.

Well, I do not like the 19s so I do not care😜 I even have a set of 17s refurbished 2009 GX470 wheels I plan to put on when the current 18s are worn.

If the road is perfectly straight, then the steering wheel will be straight. If the road is curved, the steering will not be centered. It is just the nature of the thing, it is not misaligned. I'm guessing its the offroad gear beneath it?

the roads are not perfectly leveled else water would not drain. The center of the road is the highest point and slopes in both sides.

so, in most situations the vehicle will seems as it’s pulling to the right slightly in countries with left hand drive (like in North America)

I just noticed the 4runner limited comes with 20” wheels. A set of those in black plus tires would be cheaper than just 19in tires alone.

I realize this is a bit of a bump on an old thread, so I apologize.

Anyway, I have a ‘21 Luxury and I’m curious if anyone else has a hard time keeping this thing in alignment?

The roads where I live are pretty crappy in spots, but even broken or rough pavement can throw the GX out of alignment, not necessarily a pothole or major bump.

Im getting an alignment a month lately, and I’ve talked to my service director about it. He said the lower profile 19” wheels are a small part of the problem and the 18”s with more sidewall would take impacts slightly better. He also said aligning the GX Luxury is a pain because only the rear has air suspension and getting it set without the system changing pressure and resetting is challenging.

If some of you have really had that much luck with a tire swap, I’m inclined to try it. I like the look of the 19”s a lot more than the 18”s, but the alignment issues and difficulty to get the truck to drive straight are annoying.

Have owned five (5) 4-Runners ... FJ Cruiser ... GX470 and GX460 ... never had to align the suspension ... running 16" - 17" - 18" wheels. What is important to know is that the Alignment Bolt/Cam Assembly (4-Total) used on the lower control arms for ALL of these vehicles are famous for seizing at some point in their service life ... especially in rust prone climates ... winter road salt areas being the worst. For whatever reason Toyota/Lexus did not lubricate this assembly to slow down this from happening ... so many proactive owners will apply anti-seize compound as a preemptive measure ... otherwise alignment adjustment at some point becomes virtually impossible.

The other thing about the GX460 ... is that the steering wheel horn cover is squared off versus somewhat rounded like earlier models ... so if the steering wheel is not exactly "centered" ... the illusion of misalignment is accentuated. This clearly does not explain if one is having tracking issues ... but does drive me crazy when the steering wheel is not exactly centered.

If you have the alignment results (the caster and camber numbers), please post them.

There is no reason a shop can't get a GX to drive straight.

I do my own alignments in my garage and my GX drives perfectly straight.

Does this explain why my steering wheel is slightly off center but my alignment is just fine?
