Should I be changing the UCAs when doing ball joints or just do the ball joints ?

Looking at rockauto, I can purchase the ball joints by themselves.. unlike what the tech said today while doing the alignment (ball joints and UCAs come together ) ...

Go OEM on the Upper Control Arms ... order from Bell Lexus ... 30-odd% off the local dealership pricing. Toyota Forums have reported that the non-OEM "equivalents" are not as durable.

For me ... I went with SPC Upper Control Arms ... have the benefit of Caster Adjustment ... to better center larger tires in the wheel well.

Could I not have just the ball joints replaced, instead ? They are removable.. The OEM UCAs are $306 a pop at Bell.. plus ball joints.. plus tie rods.. sheesh.. just got done spending $1400 between new tires and alignment..

Why did an alignment shop perform an alignment if the UCA ball joints were compromised ? They owe you an alignment once new new UCA's are installed.

Yeah, I had them notate the receipt and their notes that once I get these done, they will redo the alignment at no charge. They agreed, as long as it's done within 3 months.

I found this thread and @Acrad said they were removable.. that got me wondering if I could get away with just the ball joints if the UCAs are ok..

okay so I wanted to double check with my mechanic ( Indy, Japanese guy that specializes in .. Japanese cars lol.. with over 25 yrs experience ) and we put the GX on the lift, and there was NO leak!! Everything is bone dry, and no rips or tears on the boot. Maybe do the tie rod ends at some point ( looking at the rear right one ) The alignment was done by Brakes Plus ( recommended by Discount Tire since they don't do alignments.. ) Looked them up online and stellar ratings ( 4.8+ with hundreds of reviews.. ) except when you sort it by the lowest rating.. and their 'rip off with stupid quotes and un-necessary repairs recommendations' show up. Amazing!

So glad I did this !! ( pics attached )

Default 2014 GX460 Steering wheel jerking - bumpy roads

Hi All, Kindly see the attached video, I Would like to get your advice about this steering wheel abnormal jerking, I can feel that sound and jerking is coming directly down from the steering. Its a slight stony ground and always I feel it in the similar kind of drive, but in highway it’s perfectly smooth.

Model: 2014 GX460 Luxury trim 205K Km (Height adjustment kept in Comfort/Normal mode. Rear height adjustment also in Normal mode.)
