Although we all have the same manuals in our glovebox, I've never bothered to look at them. How can you find anything in over a thousand printed pages in half a dozen bound manuals? I can search for any subject online, then select the exact portion to publish here or to send by email.
Regards,
Thanks, sometimes I use the online resources, however, the site has some glitches. Every time I try to log in it asks me for another email to access the contents of the site.
Is there a service manual available for the GX that is reasonably priced. I do maintain my other vehicles but since the new GX came with 2 years "free" maintenance I took it back for the first 6 months service and will do the same until it runs out. However I would like to do most maintenance myself afterwards and was wondering if anybody was able to locate a service manual for a reasonable price.
The warranty book with service intervals included with the owner's manual list pretty much what needs to be done and very little is required except the oil and filter changes. If you mean the shop manual they can be had for a price and they are not cheap. Since you have a warranty and a problem comes up Lexus would be the one to deal with this. If you attempt something and it does not work out you could void your warranty.
If you do not have the owner's manual with the service intervals it can be downloaded online.
Thanks, I was more like looking for a factory service manual that has torque values, part numbers, wiring diagrams, troubleshooting procedures etc.
That's heresy speak to most around here. Best value for the money is a subscription to an online service like All Data. The book sets get quite expensive.
As I understand it, all Toyota service manuals are only available online by subscription. It may be possible to get a short term subscription and print them all to PDF.
I went down that road when I first got my GX in February.
For a standard subscription, TIS is $15 for 2 days, $75 a month, and $400 a year.
i give you an idea of how much material there is, this is what the 2011 manual looks like, in printed form.
I tried to save everything in 2 days but ended up just taking notes on the more common maintenance items that I would do on my own. If I were to get into a bigger job, I won't mind paying $15 for a 2 day subscription and adding it to the cost of doing it myself.
in the above post an official Toyota Lexus service manual or a third party manual. Can't seem to tell from the site. Just leads me to the purchase page. Thanks.
