Anyone complete this with the GX on the ground rather than ramps or jack stands? I don't have ramps and only have one set of 6T stands. I have many 3T stands but I'd prefer something a bit more beefy if all four wheels have to be off the ground. I took a peek under the car and it looks like there is some room but maybe it's a tight squeeze?
It can be done. The first pic I posted of GXOR member's fluid condition way back in this thread was changed on the ground with no ramps. I just like having extra room. As long as you can get a ratchet with a 24MM socket on the WS fill port you should be fine as the drain and check should be easy to get at on the bottom. It was a little unnerving the first time I did this maintenance but am comfortable with the process now. It's really not as complicated as I originally thought. Remember to put rag or something on that heat shield across from the fill bolt. You could save yourself a cut off from that.
If you are using Toyota ATF WS this is a pretty good deal with a quart cost of $8.68 and free shipping for a quantity of 8 @ $69.45. This is an area of vehicle I am just sticking with stock fluid.
Most of the toyota products that I have used have a similar setup for their fluid filters like ATF or fuel. Oil is either old style spin on, or cartridge.
Do the GX460 have separate transmission oil cooler or is it integrated into the radiator? I was wondering since I heard about the older 4Runner that had issues with the coolant mixing with the transmission coolant on high mileage cars.
US models '10-'19 are integrated into the radiator.
Canadian top tier 460 models do have a separate cooler but it is still plumbed off the one that is in the radiator so while it is has increased cooling capacity there is the possibility of a high mileage strawberry milkshake as I guess they call it. I can't say I have heard of anyone report this happen on a 460 though.
The little port that you pin on the transmission, which side of the tranny is it on and is it near the front or the back?
Going to order a case of fluid and a Motive Powerfill Pro and do this in the next month or so. At 117k, I'll be like @Acrad35751 and do it at least three times which should make a difference. I'm really curious to see the condition of the fluid on the first drain. I'll obviously update this thread when I get to it.

Oh, is the pan able to be dropped or is there anything in the way like a crossmember? Probably couldn't hurt to do the strainer and clean the magnets at 117k... any thoughts?
Hopefully these pics help point you to the thermostatic switch location. Last pic is the pin and it is on the lower left corner of the thermostatic switch.
Ordered a 6qt fluid container from Amazon. Went out and crawled under the GX and found the necessary plugs as well as the thermo for pinning it. Got my SG2 set up for reading transmission fluid temperature.
