I could have done the rental but just seemed to be an extra PIA to do that with extra vehicles. My wife and I carpool a lot so doesn't matter. I know... most of my co-workers said the same thing about getting the free car to drive. I just wasn't interested in driving the Tahoe that was offered me.

I got up early to change the oil. Then after it was filled, I realized that the oil on the dipstick was high.... hmm. I'll drive it down the street and back, and see if that settles out. Odd, but not totally unheard of. As I drove down my street, transmission slippage.... What a dumbass. I drained the transmission fluid instead of the oil. It was a late night and I was zoning out to my podcast. Anyway, I still had the transmission fluid in the drain pan, so I knew how much, and went to the local Lexus shop to get transmission fluid (in my wife's MDX). After consulting the toyota techinfo, I refilled the amount I drained (using a manual pump with threads to fit on a quart). Drained all of the oil again, and refilled fresh. So yeah, not the way I wanted to spend my morning, but not a total loss. It was nice outside and I got to learn a new process. it could have been way worse. It shifts nice and smooth now, so I'm happy about that.

Oddly, the Lexus parts people said this isn't uncommon and were remarkably close in their estimation of 3 quarts. Next week's project, degrease both pans and paint O and T on them . Also, find a way for me to be less dumb when working on my vehicle.

I remember thinking, "I'm pretty sure there was a panel I needed to remove to drain the oil.... Hmmm, I guess that was the Range Rover." So yeah, measure twice, cut once. Save yourself a day.

Guess it has been a while but I didn't think the 460 had a transmission drain plug?

Glad to hear it didn't cause any issue.

SO you put back the amount that you drain, then redrain it again and put back the new fluid in the exact amount? Did you do the Thermo pin and temperature measurement?

Just not a traditional AT dipstick. There is still a drain plug, fill plug as well as a check valve for determining level.

No, I parked it in the garage the night before, drained, went through the procedure I mentioned above. I didn't do a complete fluid flush, I just replaced the amount of fluid that I drained. I didn't need to add the 1.8 quarts over what drains out of the overflow when at x temp (as per the toyota tech info)... It was a stupid mistake but fixable. Take the amount of fluid that drains out, add new fluid. I only put back the amount I drained.

Added Fuel “Tech” D672 18x9” +1mm offset. Same 265/70/18 on the OEM wheels previously.

Bought a set of GX 460 18 inch wheels for $400 from CL. Then went an wrapped it with Mich ICE rubber as a winter set. Although, Discount Tire put the wrong TPWS on it, so I can't test out the change tire set feature on the my 2020.

Drove it to pick up a 10lb sledge to get the wheels off our 2005 Corolla so I could replace the suspension (rusted on from living up north for 12 years).

Something bizarre happened yesterday. I rinsed off our GX with the hose since it was dirty, didn't do anything so I left it in the driveway. Few hours later I went to pull it in the garage and someone had randomly wiped the dirtiest area, lower part of the car. This put really bad swirls in the paint and no one at home did this. I remember hearing the dog barking and dismissed it as him barking at a squirrel or rabbit. Only thing I can think of is maybe it was the neighbor's young kids. I had to spend the rest of the day washing and buffing the the paint.

Reminds me of something I have done to friends and neighbors in my earlier years. I have always been a clean car fanatic and when I would see their cars that were sometimes nicer than mine dirty for so long I decided to play. I would wipe one wheel down thoroughly and shine the tire.

Ordered 2020 rear barn door emblem. It's a rare cosmetic mod for me but I justified it since it was < $100, is still an OEM part and will be easier to detail.
@Acrad Thanks for sharing the 50% shipping code. total was $92.34 shipped. promocode "clublexus" saved $9 in shipping...
