Does anyone know if we can get this in the US? Would be interested in taking a look at installation instructions.

Would probably have to paint it black (wife would not be very happy with red)

It's a good question. There are a number of Prado 150 accessories available in other markets (i.e., aux battery tray) that would likely fit the GX. I know that bigger ARB dealers can make special orders for "some" of these items and get them shipped to the US. You could check with Kurt and cruiseroutfitters.com, or your favorite ARB dealer.

Lightbulb Recovery Gear

I've been thinking about a winch but it seems this would require a significant vehicle modification on the front. One could always just bring along a cheap come-along but the Lewis winch has me interested. They are made up in British Columbia. Using a ****** block it should easily handle the GX front and rear.

I've been thinking about picking up a new 550 XP Huskey to replace old Stihl anyways so could dual purpose for cutting trees out of the way or the small chance I got stuck out in the sticks. These Husky's have smart carbs almost like EFI.

Might go another route here and in no way diminishing the Lewis winch as that seems like a great option as well....these come-alongs appear to be the strongest and one of the best you can buy. A ""small"" American company in business over 100 years and still around has to have a quality product you can hand down.

I think I am gonna go with a 3-ton unit with the synthetic line. I've always done cable on my winches so this will be my own personal experiment.

EDIT: Might look into putting some of these recovery points on the front. Hopefully I can just get black. Yellow will be fine though... it's low to the ground.

Ordered the recovery points from Australia via eBay... if the wife has issues with the yellow might paint them black.

I suppose I could plasti-dip them black.

These recovery points seem stout. Seems about 1/2 inch thickness. I probably won't get to install until the following weekend.

Ordered the come along in earlier part of thread with synthetic rope. Also picked up a Makita rechargeable 36V chainsaw. I think that will be a better fit for taking with me in GX 460 for the occasional branches/small trees in the road. I still need to get a replacement chainsaw for other woodcutting uses.

I am a big Makita fan. I used Dewalt products for years and I got tired of replacing them often. Here is my collection of Makita now.
I think that chainsaw will do well.

Installed these today and rotated the tires.... I didn't do a the best job painting them black....lots of overspray.... (I'm not a carpenter or a painter :-))) for the wife but they are such an "under the car" item not gonna sweat it as frankly I'd have to point it out to someone.

I found it easier to slightly drill out the forward hole a little bit so bolt will easily slide in and out as you need to utilize one of those "bolts with a wire" that you have to snake through the frame and then hold to match up with the bolt. I can elaborate but a lot of hitches are the same way.

EDIT: I'll post some pics in next few days.

EDIT: I ended up picking the Wyeth Scott come-along mentioned earlier instead of the Lewis Winch. It is so stout and will definitely be a family hand-me-down.

EDIT: Also pulled off my wheel locks and replaced with a standard lug nuts.

Good job , Looking forward to seeing the installed pics of those recovery mounts. Did you buy the lugs from a Lexus or Toyota dealer, or from another source?

I didn't want the shackles to rattle around so cut and drilled some rubber bushing things I had in my box of do-dads. I'll probably keep the shackles on there for now.

EDIT: Some other good uses if you don't hunt or need vehicle recovery
• Pulling snowmobiles or ATV/UTV onto a trailer
• pulling small trees or shrubs out on your property
• Need to lift heavy items or construction gear on your property

I mainly got this for hunting but with a couple blocks might be able to use for some minor vehicle recovery.

High quality winch from Simpson Winch in Oregon.
