Anyone seeing a way in Fusion to look at the properties of one of these predefined PIDs? I'm curious how close the one oubobcat has with working install to the Torque formula for Tacomas above. I tried the Tacoma one out and it gave me -257

I wonder what temp would set this display off?

EDIT: FSM makes me think around 300 degrees

One thing to consider for the the "lifetime fluid" is suggested replacement at 6 years or 60k miles if you tow, use a car-top carrier or carry heavy loads inside vehicle.

If I read FSM and understand it correctly, the normal ATF operation range is between 68F to 260F, at 302F, the circuit will be short, I would assume that when you get the message.

Driving around on some steep forest service roads with massive water bars so was crawling really slow over them. 4L was appropriate crawl speed but also lowered the AT temp by 10-15 degrees. Food for thought as you are crawling around. Still plan to put a supplemental AT cooler in though.

94F in Cincinnati today. These temps are after ~7 miles of city/highway and a going up a hill with close to 180ft of elevation change over 3 switchback turns.

I really want to get a AT cooler on mine when I get a chance. I'd like to keep the AT temps below 200 degrees when towing or even in general driving. A number of 470 owners on GXOR which have factory supplemental coolers report temps below 190 even when towing.

Canadian Executive trim 460s come with the stock supplemental cooler.

I might go with this one since US reseller (Cruiser Brothers LLC) is not very far from me and cooling would never again be a concern... although hopefully not too chilled for winter.

https://automatictransmission.com.au...do-150-series/

"Install one of our specially designed External Transmission Oil Cooler kits to keep the Transmisson Temperature under control. Toyota Prado 150 Series uses the engine radiator to provide cooling capacity for the transmission. If you never go offroad or install a tow bar, then this is probably sufficient for your needs. Of course those of you who love hitting the tracks or hitching up the caravan for a trip around Australia, the cooling system sometimes doesn’t quite cut the mustard."

I guess I'm old and computer illiterate.

Looks like I need a OBD2 reader and this app downloaded.

Am I correct that I will then need to add programs to the app to monitor ATF temp?

I haven't done any computer programming since the early 90's, so wondering if there's a "how to" thread on doing this step by step from the beginning.

Unfortunately a lot of the data on this is spread around

This TPMS thread has more info.

I purchased a different OBD Wifi adapter that in a nutshell is "real" and thus can read TPMS values as well. The cheaper ones you find that aren't real 2.0x versions. If you don't care about the TPMS the cheaper ones on Amazon....bluetooth or Wifi should work fine.

Amazon Amazon

Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...hScan&hl=en_US

IOS - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/obd-...650684932?mt=8

Core app is $10-$20 and then you purchase a model year specific expansion for an extra $10. This expansion is an in-app purchase within OBD Fusion.

Some further discussion about the PID here. Time spent above a certain temperature. Perhaps 256°F?

I asked them to pinpoint where I would find this as not in engine and AT area on mine anyway...

If you want to watch torque converter lockup in OBD Fusion or Link

You will need your model year enhanced diagnostics pack

Add the following gauge into a dashboard ----> PID ---> Toyota, Lexus Scion ----> Engine and Electronic Controlled Transmission ----> STATUS OF THE LOCK UP

It will register with a "1" on gauge for locked and "0" for unlocked

Not sure how relevant it is, but has anyone run the ScanGauge II to monitor temps and codes? I have a buddy that runs one in his Tacoma but not sure if they work well for the GX

I had a SG II hooked up to my GX470 and worked really well. I tried to hook it up to my 460 this weekend but it didn't work. I'm sure the TFT code for the newer vehicle has to be entered in order to read. Will report back in the next few days.

Sounds good I appreciate it. I've had a SGII on my list for a while to pick up but I haven't yet so I'll hold up for now and see what you find.

Here is Romanova using his SG to check for AT temps during his AT fluid swap.
