Multi-Terrain Select System malfunction report
2020 GX. Enform send messages that: "A malfunction in the Multi-Terrain Select System has been detected. Contact your Lexus dealer in order to have your vehicle inspected." That I did and the computer showed no codes for a malfunction. Got in touch with Lexus Guest Experience who did a "reset" on the vehicle. Problem is still occurring. Would appreciate wisdom from anyone else who has had this experience.

I think you're probably the first to report this issue on the 2020 model year. On previous models that have added on, I haven't heard any similar issues. I'd suggest take it to Lexus and let them look at it. It could be a simple Zero point recalibrate but I'd definite get the dealer to check it out and get it on the record for future reference.

+1... that is the first time I have heard someone talk about a MTS failure. Granted the number of US retrofits is still fairly small overall (maybe a few hundred at this point)

To all who have replied, thank you. But please note my post stated that I did take it to the dealer and they can find nothing as no codes were set.

Unfortunately your issue is in somewhat uncharted waters. AFAIK that error message doesn't even exist on the 10-19 models and your optioned GX is still a relative unicorn.
Congrats on getting a 2020 460 with off-road package. If I see someone report this elsewhere I will report back.
Did Crawl Control still work even with the MTS error? If you didn't check, could you test next time if error shows up?

MTS malfunction

I’m new to the forum.
Recently bought a new 2021 GX460.
I just received an email from Lexus Enform “health report”.
it showed the following
“A malfunction in the Multi-Terrain Select System has been detected. Contact your Lexus dealer in order to have your vehicle inspected.”
i have 550 miles on the car. I put the car in 4LO 2 days ago while driving on dirt road. Should I be worried about this warning?

This has been reported a few times so far. I haven't heard of any follow up resolutions. I'm going to move a few posts in other threads over here.

If all the reports on that malfunction error were from enform, it could be a chance that might related on enform software issue rather actual malfunction. It might be a bad communication with the GX. I am curious that if anyone who received such error massage, had tried to engage the MTS function to see if it still working. If there is an actual malfunction, at least, it will not engage and cluster multi info display will indicate that MTS is not available.

Did they post what was corrected on the work order? Software flash or part replacement?
