i need to reach the max capacity and the smaller hitch is only 5000# and 500 tongue unfortunately… hopefully we get news about the larger hitch soon.
That's a class-III with reduced tow & tongue. I see the Curt class-III for GX460 is just a small bolt-on item, so maybe that's why the #'s are reduced?
Update: Hard to know from just online pics of the Curt or Draw-Tite stuff. Some show just a smaller bolt-up center section, other pics show full-framed hitch.
I believe my Hidden Hitch for GX470 is a full rated class-III because it's much bigger.
The class-IV for GX460 is what you want.
Why is the Lexus class-IV "on hold" ?? Availability?
I see others are just selling their GX460 class-IV hitches, like as seen on ih8mud site ($125). Look around for deals like that.
Until the OEM hitch becomes available again just buy the class III to use in the mean time. It was easier to install the Curt than changing a tire, just need a 1/2" drive 3/4" socket, a 2-3" extension and 1/2" drive torque wrench. I choose the Curt because it is engineered, tested and manufactured by Curt in the US, it also has a spacer to provide room for the rear bumper cover on later GXs (not sure the year change). Draw-tite is part of Horizon-Global which also owns Reese, theses hitches for the X460 are made in Mexico (at least in 2018, stop at 2:18 in the video by eTrailer to see the manufacturing label: https://www.etrailer.com/tv-best-201...ler-hitch.aspx ) I believe that other brands (Uhaul etc.) relabel the hitch made by Horizon-Global. There are also hitches made of unknown steel quality with no testing nor quality assurance on ebay and Amazon for under a $100.
I should be getting my ‘22 within a month. I see some Lexus hitches available out there for around 260.00-280.00 but the freight charges are ridiculous. Anywhere from 150.00-300.00 for shipping. Is that normal for this item even when they’re not on allocation and readily available? If it’s normal I’ll just pull the trigger early, but in a normal world if I can get one from my local dealer for 300.00ish I’ll wait.

Wait. Normal price from an online Lexus dealer is $275 w/ free shipping code SHIPLEXUS.
This is copy of what I did to my GX today "sticky"
Ordered the Curt Trailer Hitch from Amazon for $130 plus tax on December 19. Got it today and installed it in about 30 minutes. It came with a top plate about a 1/4 inch thick to prevent any bending of the rear bumper trim. Very easy install and the hardest part was trying to put in the first bolt with one hand and holding the hitch and top plate with the other. I had to lower the spare tire about an inch to make room for the hitch to line up with the holes in the bumper bracket. Torque all 4 bolts to 86 ft-lbs. I am not as strong as I used to be at age 74 and I had to put the monkey on the torque wrench to get it to break at 86 lbs. Don't have anything to pull but if I have ever rent a trailer from U-Haul I'm all set. 5K towing and 500 lb tounge weight is all I need to pull small boats, rented trailers, etc. My GX is a 2022 with the Premium package. The Curt Trailer hitch part number is 13043. It's my understanding that Curt now sends the top plate with all orders for the GX460 hitch to avoid you having to remove the bottom trim piece or having it bent in a little without the spacer.

Did my first oil change (break-in) at 2,474 miles. I didn't want to wait for 5,000 miles so I tried to do it half-way. I also helped my friend change out the rear brake pads on his '17 GX. Overall, a great day wrenching on GXes. Quote Multi 1 Subscribe

Bored at work, playing with my IPAD, and I put together this, a pretty bad thread, even for me.

Hey I already apologized and you decided to read this anyway. So, what is the worst you can imagine in mods or friends wanting rides?

With 84 "views" already on this thread as I post this comment but only one other comment, albeit a polite one from Katy, I will type/say it out loud.
I really could have done without the photo of KaiserSea1's newest girlfriends. The thought this may be his fantasy foursome, has, well...., oh never mind.
Seeing this on my Saturday morning may have ruined my weekend.

In the first photo, are you 2 or 3 laps down?

if they lose about 150 lbs. each of them, then maybe, just maybe,
I would consider them attractive BBW's and ask them out.
Just one of them sitting in my car would give me the the "slammed VIP"
stance that I'm looking for. No need for air or bagged suspension.

Yeah that’s kinda what I figured. Thanks. I hope they get this sorted out soon or I’ll be overpaying a lot just to tow my SXS.
Just buy the Curt hitch for now off of Amazon. It's easy to install and it works for up to 5000lbs. That's what I did until the Class IV hitch is available again.
After placing a hitch order online with a Lexus dealer...
I receive an email stating...
Lexus has placed a "Stop" on the tow hitch you ordered so we are not able to sell it at this time, as it is temporarily unavailable.
There is no ETA on when this item will be made available again.
Due to this, we will have to cancel your order and refund your payment.

Well that just sucks.... this is ridiculous. It is lack of customer demand or a parts shortage? Lexus never provides any details. Thanks for the info.
FYI, the OEM/Lexus hitch is also limited to 5K lb towing capacity and 500 lb tongue weight. The appropriate weight distribution hitch is required to achieve a 6.5K lb tow capacity and 650 lb tongue weight. See page 185 or 197 of the owners manual. My 2021 also has the following sticker on the hitch advising of the weight limits.
The other day someone posted links to Lexus parts at salvage yards. There was one OEM hitch assembly for sale on those. If you want OEM, go that route.
My 22' GX460 with the Sport Package is on the way but I just realized that the lips at the bottom of the rear bumpers might get in the way of the tow hitch. Has anyone been able to add a hitch while having the sport package?
If so, can you share a picture?
