Yep - if the turbo 4 hybrid gets significant better milage I might look into a LC on the sad day, hopefully in the far far far future, when my time with our GX is done.

Hybrid max powertrain is very promising with the performance numbers. I wonder if MPG is going to be high 20s
Although, what should worry everyone is that the LC is starting in mid 50s. What does that mean for GX pricing? Feels like overtrail and luxury trims are going to be out of reach

Other than towing capacity, with the new LC, I don't get the Overtail. The lux and Lux+ sure, bc they offer something different, but other than E-KDSS, not sure what differentiates the Overtrail from a higher spec LC.

For me, those factors, combined with lack of 3rd row and limited towing capacity, are why I’ll be cancelling my deposit on the new Land Cruiser.

With respect to reliability, as long as the block is solid, I guess if I just reframe replacing turbos and replacing hybrid battery as maintenance, much like needing to replace timing belts in older engines every 90k ish miles and the replacement costs are capped at a few grand (moving with inflation) then that could be okay. After factoring in fuel cost savings over 10 years / 120k miles. For example at $4.2 for prem fuel, a GX460 at 16mpg will use about $31,500K ($29,650 for the GX550) in fuel costs over 120k miles. For the 4cyl Hybrid getting 27mpg at $3.4 for reg fuel the cost is about $15,111. Rough calc but even conservatively that is over $12k freed up that can then be used for any of these bigger maintenance issues. Also, note that Toyota hybrid batteries I think are covered for 10 years 150k so really you will prob only need to replace once if at all.

Good point. I do think the GX on the whole, and the Overtrail in particular, have a much more appealing exterior design. Also the cargo space appears to be much larger and more usable.

A lot of the review channels keep claiming that there has been some huge price drop in the Land Cruiser. Drives me crazy. In North America Land Cruiser was LX twin. GX's twin wasn't sold here but GX's sibling (or maybe 1st cousin?) , 4runner was. Now the LC is the GX's twin and 4runner is prob going to go a bit down market and Tacoma based SUV - so maybe more like Fortuner in other markets. So saying new LC is less expensive than 200 is meaningless - yeah, it is but so what. It's a renamed GX, so of course it is less expensive than the 200. Guess what, it is also less expensive than the LX and the LC300.
"Way Cheaper!" - Not it isnt'!

My local dealership had taken a couple deposits prior to taking mine down two weeks ago (before its official debut). At the time the GM mentioned it’d have the same engine and towing capacity as the new GX so guessing dealers were surprised as we were at it only offering a 4-cylinder hybrid.
