Default Can you order a GX or not?

Hey Lexus homies! Haven’t been on here in a while… So I love the new GX and want one. After reading through the trim levels I’m disappointed in how it’s configured. I truly wish I could get a base premium cold weather pack, wireless charge pad and ML audio… everything else that is included in the package I don’t want/need. So I went in search of a base living without the audio. To find out there really aren’t any. All are premium plus with a HUD and a few other options, all racking up to 69-72k when a striped down one with a few things should be had for 65. So can you actually order one? Corp Lexus says so… but every dealer just says give a deposit and get on a list? I’m cool to deposit but for an actual order not a we’ll get something for you.

Deposit puts your name on the list, if they receive one that's similar to what you want you get dibs. We've put our deposit down for a few months and the sales guy has called us a couple times with what they have but since it's not an exact match we'll keep waiting.

Toyota and Lexus do not order cars. They have a weird distribution network that is very Japanese and doesn’t really make sense in how Americans establish business structures.

You can get on a list, offer deposits, etc. but it’s not at all like BMW or Porsche where you can order what you want and pick it up in stuttguert or Dresden or whatever once the order is fulfilled. Toyota is pretty much going to make what they want, ship it where they want, and then let the distributor / importer load it up with dock upgrades, then the dealers get them.

If they didn’t make such a solid product , the whole model would come crashing down imo.

Default Ordering a GX550

I have a deposit for a 2025 GX 550 Overtrail+.
I want the color I want and 3 must have options and one option I will not accept.
I will accept additional option within reason dollar wise.
If they can come up with this vehicle they have a sale.
If not they don't have a sale.

They used to let you. Still had to go through a dealership and then get approved by the factory. My 2016 GS350 was said example. Took 5 months.

Based on what I was told by a dealer a couple of years ago, you cannot custom order a Lexus to your exact specs. The dealer can find one close to what you want and you will have to make some compromises. I ended up custom ordering a BMW exactly how I wanted it, down to the wood trim color. The dealer happened to have an immediate build slot and I got the car within a month (built in the US). I know it will fall apart after 5 or 6 years. Will replace it with a Lexus before that happens.

I was able to sit down with a dealer and order exactly what I wanted. You just have to find the person at the dealer willing to do it. We were able to order a premium plus, nebula grey, black interior, rear heated captain's chairs. NO traffic bs or any nonsense subscription options.

You got what you wanted but they didn't technically order it. Toyotas aren't like Porsche where you end up with extremely special or rare options. They mass produce enough that if you're welling to wait long enough it isn't difficult to get what you want "ordered" if you wait.

Your dealer was allocated that vehicle or the they traded with another dealer with that allocation.

We wanted an OT in Earth, White or Green. A few came by and we decided on the Earth OT plus. I didn't want the cool box or roof rails but we more than likely would never get one since Toyota decides to send an X number of configurations to my region and they'll decide that cool boxes and roof rails are easy sellers.

I didn't order a TRD Pro in white or manual, it's just the obky configuration I wanted. Thus I had to wait quite some time. Still ended up with a few options I didn't care for.
