That's right. I think the UK used to have the 200, and they called it the LC Amazon or something. I wonder if maybe Toyota keeps the 4runner roughly the same size as it is now since both the LC and GX are about as big as the old big LC (the 200).

An article on this site as well as in Autoweek state the GX550 is using the same platform as the LX600. From Autoweek:

“The ‘24 Lexus GX also rides on a new platform—at least it’s new for the GX. The same TNGA-F architecture underpins the Lexus LX 600 and Toyota Sequoia.”

It is the same modular platform but the GX and the LC (Prado) coming the the US will likely be a rebadged version of each other - just like the LX600 and LC300 are similar to each other. The LC300, even thought it too is on TNGA is not coming over to the US.

isnt it similar in wdith only due to the fenders? I thought there was a post saying the LX is still wider in passenger space as its fenders arent as flared

But the track width is not wider, at least not appreciably. The wheelbase of the GX550 and LX600(and the LC300) are identical(112.2") and all three have virtually the same track width. In fact, the GX550 Overtrail track is slightly wider than the LX at 66.4" vs 66". Any variation in track may be due to the wheel offset. But its not like there are inches of difference here. Were talking a few tenths of an inch.

The body on each may be a different size but the GX550 underpinnings are J300. Unless the Prado has the same dimensions as the J300, the GX is not a Prado anymore.

Keeping in mind that Lexus didn't design/manufacture the GX470/GX460, they were Prados for the world market. A world market where many are sold to cover R&D and justify production. Lexus took a fraction of the Prado's made for the world and added their own bumper covers, interior trim and EPA'd drive train. The sale numbers for the GX world wide is far too insignificant for Lexus to justify R&D and production of their own unique body just for the few (relative to Prados) GXs sold and place it upon the j300 (LX600) frame. So from a practical (cost of production) and historic relevance (j120-GX470/j150 GX460), it would be logical that the GX550 be the same vehicle that Toyota will sell in 2024 as the Prado (aka Land Cruiser/Land Cruiser Prado, pending on markets where the j300 LC is also sold).

We'll know for sure though once Toyota reveals the 2024 Land Cruiser Prado.

I guess I dont know what you are arguing. The GX550 dimensions are know to be virtually identical to the LX and J300 Land Cruiser. What is up for debate? That the Prado may also be the same size as the J300?

I haven't seen a picture or details anywhere but will the panoramic roof in the Luxury+ model be able to open? The existing "dynamic sky panorama roof" on the RZ does not open.

I read where it will not open. Venza has the same sky roof.

You stated that the GX will no longer be based on the Prado, that it is on the j300 chassis. You supported your theory that the GX550 is based on the j300 [LX=j310] as they share the same wheel base and that the track is nearly identical. I've countered in my long winded posts above that the 24' GX & 24' Prado is [will be] very likely the same vehicle instead of the j300 which you suggested, and I gave several reasons. Others have mentioned the TNGA-F platform architecture which the LX600 also uses in addition to the 24'GX, so perhaps you have been using the term j300 chassis [body. j=body type] in the same vein as the TNGA-F platform?

The TNGA-F is modular. The Sequoia and Tundra are also on it and are clearly not the same chassis as a GX550 or LX/LC 300 since they are 2-3" wider track and 8-45" longer wheelbase.

I believe the 2024 Tacoma is 63" Track, 3" less than the GX550, and is also on TNGA-F. Seems like if you wanted a Prado, you'd put it on the same width chassis as the Tacoma.

The Tacoma TRD Pro is 3" wider than the standard Tacoma, putting it at the same width as the GX550/LX/LC. All they had to do was borrow the control arms and axle since its a shared platform.

It’s a big fixed glass panel on Luxury+. They’ve had one on display at some events recently.
