I believe the newest (2020 has Apple CarPlay android auto but I may be wrong). I wont buy a new one until that is there. I rented an Audi Q4 the other week and it has the best auto touchscreen Ive ever used.
Just looked the 2020 brochure and Carplay is not mentioned. I have owned 2 GX's and will not buy another without updated technology either.
Nope, there is no CarPlay on this $75k vehicle. Dont feel bad though as its still not available on the $95k LX. On the bright side, you CAN get it in a $20k Chevy Cruz. Ugh.
I've owned two GXs but I won't buy another one without CarPlay. If I an find a good retrofit for my 17 GX I'll just keep that until the wheels fall off...
It is mentioned in the 2010 manual so I assume in Canada they started then. Of course available in other markets throughout the world as well. Someone posted somewhere...maybe GXOR that they saw one (10-13 model) brought in from Puerto Rico that had the Cool Box. That might be a grey method of bringing in an optioned '20 with Cool Box into the US.
I wonder if models sold in Guam also had it as an option over the years?
I saw this 460 brought back by a military member from Guam at a dealer north of Seattle.
I've used Apple Carplay before, while it's nice to have, I don't understand why it's a deal breaker for soooo many people. I guess different strokes for different folks.
After owning my GX for 3 months, I think it's almost perfect. The only 2 things I wish it had are: (1) slightly smoother ride for 2nd and 3rd row, (2) slightly more storage room behind the 3rd row seats. That's all, really.

Ha, never used it and maybe I should keep it that way
I'm really looking forward to the next gen GX (and LC300/LX)... there are a lot of powertrain options to speculate about....
The most likely one is likely an V6 TT paired with an 8 speed transmission.
The recent LX600 trademark is more likely a nod to a V6 with twin turbo scrolls for the zeros, not a 6.0L V8 in my opinion (unless they go into the cylinder deactivation world to make fuel economy improvments)... either way, I'm sure it will be awesome and I'm looking forward to seeing what ToMoCo comes up with.
The midsize and fullsize BOF SUV segment is about to get crowded with the Ford Bronco coming back in 2021 (already confirmed a hybrid version will be available), GMC Jimmy coming back in 2022, and Rivian R1S and R1T coming to market in 2021. Rivian and Ford are really going to push ToMoCo in the hybrid/ EV Truck/SUV segments... let's not forget the Tesla pickup is looming debut soon for under 50K starting (supposedly).
Also I think it's highly likely the next GX/LX/LC will be a mostly or all alumimum body for weight savings.
If lexus put twin turbo v6 instead of v8 for 2023, I would be one of the buyers for 3rd gen
The twin turbo V6 is likely the next power plant for the Tundra and LC200/ LX (along with a hybrid option) so I doubt the GX gets the same.
It won't be hard to beat the current powertrain performance in hp/tq numbers with any number of powertrains already in the Lexus lineup... i can see a NA V6 mated to a 10 speed tranny in the GX's future.
It'd like to see the next GX get some (more) aluminum or composite body panels to significantly lighten the vehicle to improve mpg while they're at the redesign, but that's not likely considering the Japan manufacturing element is in lock step with the steel industry which they are invested heavily in near Tahara.
