Just curious if anyone has heard when the hybrid version may be out and if it will have the 4cyl or the 6cyl option like the TX?

Not sure when it will be released, but pretty sure it will be the 4 cyl. Some of the Lexus launch materials showed a picture of the engine with battery and it was the 4 cyl. Also, hybrid will likely not be available with 3rd row, because the load floor will be raised like it is on the US market Land Cruiser.

I saw this video on ih8mud last night. Not a GX550 but the 300 series. The traction control on it was astonishingly good nevermind the amount of articulation it has with the EKDSS.


Hopefully the GX550 has the same setup.

1) GX470 is easily best looking out of the 3 gen IMO
2) I was one of the people who suggested that Toyota putting the rear (and front in some markets) lockers on LCs with A-Trac was evidence, even if not conclusive, that at least in some edge cases having a locker would be useful above an beyond A-Trac. I still think that is likely true. I don't disagree that the rear locker in the Overtrain is mostly about marketing and signaling 'Off Road' messaging about the new J250 platform to dudes even if really the J250 better than the J150 platform wrt to towing/cargo rather than off road capability. Where I am it is mostly women who drive GX's. Of course I personally am unlikely to ever need either A-Trac or a locker.

I got to use ATRAC a bit in Moab the other week in my 460 and it did work pretty well. I was in a few situations where I was teetering on 2 tires and it pulled me through with minimal drama.

You can leverage ATRAC in 4H on 10-19 models with MTS. Mud/Sand mode is allowed in 4H. This was removed 20+ on optioned models.

I should know, I own one.

ATRAC is legit. I do some rock crawling with mine and it's like driving a big fat mountain goat.

These dealers are freaking out right now, there are 26 GX460's in stock at my local shop and they all have a $4k discount on them. I assume if you dont mind a fat mountain goats, you can problaby ask for another $5k off and they will take it.

The rest of the world is waiting for the new one.
