Pole Position
Does anyone have more realistic intel of when these things are hitting dealerships? Is it Q1 2024? I'm unexpectedly in a situation where I am shopping. Trying to determine how much time I need to buy myself to see one of these in person before ruling it in or out.

I was told production starts in late December, so I would assume late Q1 barring any issues.

The reason LEXUS is selling the GX as Overlander/Off Roader is massive increase in demand in the NA for this stuff (see Ford Bronco) and arrival of TX which can take over for the three row needs of families and frees up the GX for dudes to fantasize about going off road while 98% of them just use it to shuttle around town (and yeah, I actually thought we might use our '13 GX (we got for my wife - and I note the majority of GXs are driven by women, at least where I am) off road and shocker in the 4 years we have owned it never once). @460offroad s content as a smart thoughtful guy, but I think here there is some revisionist perspective - but that said keep up it up, I like your work.

The LX600 almost a one to one map to the LC300 (save for rear locker). The GX550 is the LC250 analogue. To be fair to Toyota is that after the financial crisis and in the years that followed the nominal price for gas spiked and overall demand for SUVs was much lower than it is today. I imagine that played some role in the decision to nix the FJ Cruiser in '15 - there just wasn't a demand for this stuff. My understanding is that the GX was mostly to plug a hole in the LEXUS line up since the RX was only a 2 row so they rebadged the Prado. But no way do I believe that during those years if they tried to sell the GX as some off road monster would they have sold more units. Nobody was going to Lexus for that, and almost nobody here in North America was even talking about overlanding. Over here you only head overlanding from odd ducks like Andrew St Pierre White from Edit: Australia going on and on about how great old school LR Defenders were etc.

LX600 has no rear locker, no front locker, or e-kdss
GX550 OT has rear locker and e-kdss
GX550 OT deletes 60hp and the 3rd row seats
LX600 gains more lux, 60 more hp, and gets the 3rd row
Videos are food for thought... not gospel

I have my name on one of the first ones coming into Dallas/Plano and the GM told me that there was a 3-4 week delay. The first one delivered to dealers about the end of January or the first week in February 2024 already have my new plate and am restoring my 1975 resto mode Land cruiser to look very similar

Is anyone else upset about the Overtrail interior color choices? I find the Overtrail exterior more attractive than the Premium/Luxury trims, but cannot get over the black & green / beige & green interiors. Might end up going for a luxury despite the "mundane" exterior.

The Overtrail exterior looks amazing but I am not impressed with the interior choices. I may go for the Prem+ for the Saddle interior and replace the stock wheels/tires with that of the Overtrail.

Yes, I’m disappointed. Also disappointed in the exterior colours that are locked out.

Just saw the new gx in offroad trail trim and boy the concerns about the interior are well founded. I’m extremely disappointed as I was looking forward to getting one but at this point the interior is a step down compared with the outgoing model. I have never seen a new generation vehicle that is a step down in terms of material that the one it is replacing. I’m dumfounded
