I can’t see them ever cancelling it, it is a dinosaur for sure but they sell some variant of them all over the world. Their R&D costs are minimal so that means a heck of a slice of profit on each one. Low production, high profit items let them produce the low profit models that help with the CAFE numbers and all that.

Great post.

Amazing that Toyota only sold 3000+ of these vehicles in the USA. We would have bought one if it wasn't for the older style 3rd row seating arrangement and the rear door opening.

C&D writers don’t know much on CAFE standards if they think that Toyota needs help passing the mark.

People don’t buy a Land Cruiser for MPG either.

I'm curious to see what Toyota does with the LC200 in other markets next year... I bet they keep selling it in it's current form.

Toyota is committed to hybrid or green propulsion technologies (EV or FCV) and it's clear the USA market will be the Guinea pig for the rest of the world... the new Tundra should give us a good indication for the LC300 powertrain.

Its going away and the next generation is being launched with said new powertrains across the globe minus the US. If you search the next gen is already in a certain stockyard under a tarp next to the current 200s.

Whats happening in the US, is how do we reposition the LC in response to Broncos of the market and not make a slightly cheaper version of the LX.

That looks like a cross between the new Rogue and RAV4 with the LX tails. I think they’ll discontinue it and replace it with the TX model to bring some excitement to the brand (sales are not always everything).

Automotive News is holding to 2024 instead of 2023 model year for GX redesign -

I hope the V8 stays but I doubt it. Ugh, I hate small engines.

IMO: If it ends up being a 13 or 14 year run there are going to still be a lot of new/used parts available for the 460 well into the future

Good, I can swap my 2013 in 8 more years for a 2023 CPO and reset the clock.

If I ever have to replace my 2010 I’ll just buy an LX instead. Love my GX but I secretly want an LX too. Maybe after I’m done modding my 460 I’ll test the market since it seems to be going up for GX’s.
