Default rear ride height ???

hello all, first post here..

i have a gx470 2004, and recently the rear seems to be a little higher than usual, it also rides very hard, since this started i have hard new tires put on but still seems the same more on bumps, very stiff, the adjustable controls still work, i thought is might have been a fuse.

has anyone else experienced this?

thanks

similar experience....

It's probably the ride height sensor. I just had mine replaced last week under warranty as one was 'partially' frozen. More info is in the 'sticky' clunk thread or you can search on ride height sensor.

did you mean to give us a link to a pic of your 4runner, or a link to a thread that discusses the issue? All I see is pics of a 4runner

There are 2 ride height sensors in the rear.

My rear height sensors were out of whack last year - here's an old thread I posted about it:

You may have to do some seraching but somewhere on this board I found a link to the Lexus service website. You pay like $5 or $10 bucks for a limited time access to all of there service files. It's pretty cool. I just logged in and copied most of the files for the GX to my hard drive for future access...probably should not be sharing them on a public forum but oh well

i'm thinking that i have the same kind of issue. i keep getting the flashing OFF light on the dash of my 2003 470. there is also a clicking sound from the rear (hard to tell which side) when i start the vehicle up. it seems to be stuck in the highest position. any thoughts? also, in your experience is can both sensors go at the same time or it usually one or the other? i'm out of warranty so i'm just trying to figure out how much this will set me back to fix it. it's actually too bad that there isn't a way just to disable the raising/lowering. it's a nuisance and i never use it anyway.

i gotta a quote from the dealer $600 total ; LH sensor $375 only; if both are bad then it will be more, if you sensor is stuck in the down position the compressor keeps pumping air, mine did this and when I came back in town started it and drove it to the garage, I rolled over a speed bump, at maybe 8 mph and BOOM the shock exploded and now its in the lowest position. now i need to replace a shock or two..
