Thanks guys. Sometime when searching its help to know the correct name of what you are asking for. In this case I should have used running board instead of side step.

One more question - Has anyone replaced the amber LED under the steering wheel and glove box? I'd like to replace this with white instead of amber. Also the 2 on the front doom lights shooting down on the center console area. This is for a 06-GX

The two footlights and the ambient lights near the map lights are leds that are wired directly to the power source - so you cant just pull them out and replace them. The ones near the map light are regular 5mm leds and I'm not sure what the footwell lights are. For both sets, I cut them out and soldered in white leds. Same story for the lights in the door handles.

The light in the ashtray however is a type 74 bulb that can be replaced by removing the green lens and pulling out the bulb.

Ouch soldered is the word I didn’t want to hear. I pulled the ones by the foot and saw they were soldered and kind of knew I was screwed. I wanted to see if there was any easier way. Thanks for the info

You would still have to wire them to a power source. All they're doing is adding wire to the base of the LED and placing heat shrink over it.

Couldn’t you tap into the source the LEDs are in now? Or is that something you don’t want to get into?

Ok, I'm looking and can't figure out how to get to the bulbs to swap them with LEDs. Again, no other info online that I can find.

How the heck do you get to the bulbs to remove them?

I just did mine with these:
Amazon.com: AUTOSAVER88 10X T10 5050 LED Pure White Car Auto Wedge 5-SMD License Dome Map Door Cargo Light Bulbs 168 196: Automotive Amazon.com: AUTOSAVER88 10X T10 5050 LED Pure White Car Auto Wedge 5-SMD License Dome Map Door Cargo Light Bulbs 168 196: Automotive
I bought 50 for ~$15.
The Highlander we had took 10, and then I installed some in my Prius so I still have plenty left. I'd grab a quick video of how they come out, but the floor is wet because of the snow. Just a quarter turn counter clockwise to remove them, but you almost have to be under the GX to get them back in.

Those LED's you bought, where else in the GX did you install them besides the running boards?? Also dont we use alot of 194 bulbs, these bulbs do not cross reference to 194?
