whoa those are some low #s. I usually get 18 although I'm pretty light on the pedal and drive mostly highway.
I put seafoam in my gas tank and engine once a year.
Check my tire pressure once a month (sometimes once every two months, if I'm busy or forget)
Change my air filter every 15K.
I hate it when I see people let their car idle their for no reason...i.e. parked in front of house, store, restaurant. i think it just adds to the carbon footprint...although...yeah I know i drive a SUV...but that's because of what I need it for.
That's pretty much what I do.

Pole Position
My OBD shows 16.8 mpg. It is about 10% too optimistic, so I figure the real mileage is about 15.2 mpg. I live in NJ suburbs so my driving is a good combination of everything - highway, street, traffic, etc...
As mentioned before, 12 mpg is kinda low... Check your tire pressure, check your calipers, make sure they don't "stick". Air filter could be a factor as well, but it alone would not give you such a drastic drop.
Your truck should still be underr warranty, let the stealer take a look at it.
Keep us posted.

again based on my search here folks are reporting 13-15 which makes sense to me. i'm getting 13.5 but, again, i'm running bigger, heavier AT tires, but don't carry stuff or haul people around on a regular basis.

The biggest fuel thief is low air pressure. If you are running low 30s psi you could gain a couple mpg just by running higher pressure. I found that the best overall pressure is 40 psi (balance of ride and comfort).
You should run a bottle of a good fuel system cleaner every 20/30K miles (especially if you don't use "Top Tier" gas). This is the best I have used so far. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/api.aspx
Use "Top Tier" gas - http://www.toptiergas.com/
To help get the best mileage you can also use a high quality pure synthetic 0w-20/30 engine oil and 75w-90 gear oil. Replace the two diffs and transfer case oil. I use the 0w-20 motor oil. I have no interests in Amsoil, I just have had GREAT results using their products. Any of the top brands will also work well.

my wife is getting about 19.5-20 mpg mixed driving. I guess she's been flinstoning it to work!
I was quite pleased with its economy, because I thought we'd be taking a hit. Definitely check your air pressure, though.

You guys must have the 4cyl turbo version cuz that's like double, digit percentage better than what the EPA reports lol. Or get a new calculator

I dunno, my manual calculations showed 19.2 last tank, compared to 19.5 from the readout.
I've reset the mpg while going 55 and average 25mpg at that speed for 10 miles. Hey, I'm really not complaining and am glad I'm on the other side of the spectrum.
My GX also has 76,000 miles, fwiw.

My daily commute is 2 miles local and 10 miles highway this is 1 way...so yep primarily highway...the local portion of my trip is 1 stop sign and 2 stop ligthts, the stop lights I barely ever stop its usually green.
