Unhappy My poor GX

Someone hit my GX tonight and drove off without a note or anything!

My wife just got back from the grocery store and I went out to get the groceries and noticed the bumper tabs that align to the inside of the front fender, below my drivers side headlight, was sticking out onto the fender and there was about an 1/2" gap between the bumper and the headlight. I looked lower and my bumper I looked at the fender liner and it broke loose from the bolt so the front of the liner isn't secure and my bumper buckled / bent by the fog light and the paint cracked towards the bottom and it's bent. I remounted the bumper but it's still buckled with cracked paint and it sticking out where it mounts up to the fender. That pi$$es me off that someone knowingly hit my car and just drove off like nothing happened!

I told my wife that's the reason why I leave my hitch receiver / ball on so if someone hits me from the back it'll F their car up and will save my bumper. And hopefully if I do get hit by a person like tonight they'll hit it pulling forward and the hitch ball will get stuck in their radiator and when they go to sneak off in reverse it busts it wide open spewing coolant all over. Then I hope they're stupid enough to keep driving home w/ no coolant and it kills their engine. Then I hope it's in the dead of summer 100°+ degrees w/ 100% humidity and they're stuck on the side of the road waiting for hours for the tow truck to show up. Phew, ok I feel a little better now thinking of that scenario.

I guess I shouldn't expect anything less from certain people in my area. Last year my daughters girl scout troop was in a Thanksgiving parade at our mall. I was waiting on a spot and the car backed out and as it pulled forward she drove smack into the cars bumper that was next to her. She backed up and as she was backing up I jumped out and ran up to her window to see if she was ok and she drove off almost running over my foot. It was so crowded in the parking lot she had no where to go and I caught up to her and video taped the whole incident and gave it to the owner of the car she had hit. She really dinged up both bumpers pretty bad.

Then at my daughters school this past summer we were there on "meet the teacher" day and there was a lady in a brand new Infinity SUV (temp tags) and she was trying to get out of a parallel parking spot. I guess she though she had more room up front that she did because as she drove forward she hit the car in front of her so hard that she physically pushed it causing it to run into the next car. I quickly jumped out to confront her and she tried to drive off quickly too. There were a lot of parents in the parking lot that started yelling at her to stop but she kept on driving off. There's no way she didn't know she hit that car! I guess she though she could get away but she must've been new because in the schools parking lot you have to go around a circle before you can exit and guess who was fast enough to beat her on foot to the exit. Yep, me, and I got a good picture of her in the drivers seat along with her temp tag for the owners of the damaged cars.

I hate dishonest / sneaky people!!

Excuse the dirty GX. It rained here this past weekend. The black smudges you see are from my greasy / dirty hands from changing the front diff oil last night. I was too pi$$ed to get a picture of the bumper tabs sticking out before fixing it. My poor GX though.

I just dont get people. How dishonest it is to hit and run. When ever I see it happen I call police give them the license offer to follow till they get there. Do unto others just does not work anymore , I feel your pain
Maybe the store your wife was at has cameras. Worth a call.

That sucks dude!

I like the Camera Idea though. I have no knowledge of how parking lot accidents are handled in your neck of the woods but it sure would be nice to show up on their doorstep with the video!!!

The freaking sucks! It amazes me the amount of bad judgement people have when it comes to driving in tight quarters, that and that fact that so many people view cars as "point A to Point B" and don't take any pride in ownership or taking care of one as it is. So if they bump into one and scuff it up, they simply drive off without a care

Sorry to hear about that. Sucks your time and peace of mind will pay the price due to someone's complete lack of responsibility. If you F up, own up to it!! Liked the rant, it even made me feel a bit better

I hate people that do that. Someone hit my truck, and I have a full guard on the front, they hit that, and pretty hard because it dented it. I have never gotten a dent in it, pushing/pulling people and using hard on the trails and such, and it pisses me off because they had to have known they hit it. Its pretty hard to hit that and dent it. If I didnt have it would have been worse... feel bad for you man. It can get fixed easily though.

RC, sorry to hear about the POS who has done this. like the other poster said get it fixes asap.

I know a situation similar to yours, bumper can be easily fixed, sanded, painted and clear coated for around $200. I usually find them working for dealers in the back, sanding and fixing their bumpers.

Thanks everyone. Publix said they can't release the tape to me and if I wanted to see it I'd have to file a police report and get them involved. If it was worse I probably would but for the little damage it's not worth the headache.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I've seen them at dealers before. Usually they have their own mobile van / truck.

This weekend I'm going to try and use a heat gun and try to fix the spot that's buckled. If I can do that I can deal w/ the little cracked paint. It doesn't show that much since it's pearl white. I'm a little nervous to get it repainted because I've read it's hard to match the blizzard pearl since it's a 3 stage paint and if you don't lay the pearl down right it'll show bad.

I appreciate everyone's comments!
