I am bad about not locking my truck and have started to do so. I press the door lock on the drivers side and exit,I receive a long beep like I left the key inside. I tried using the gate lock/unlock to correct it but still get the long beep. I have to use the remote in order for the truck to recognize that I have the key outside of the truck. I looked at the manual and it does not show instructions on battery replacement and I have no other issues with remote functions with distance etc.
I pulled out the metal key and pryed open the case.
CR1632- 3volt is the battery, I will replace it and see if it resolves the problem but on a 2011 GX, I question the battery being the problem.
Anyone else experienced this ?

What's the issue with using the key fob to lock the truck vs. what you are trying to do manually?

It is easier to press a button on the way out rather than pulling the remote out of my pocket. This is actually why I have not been locking the truck.With my MDX having a true metal key I had the remote in my hand anyway.

While I havent tried doing what you are doing, I think the system is working as designed. The FOB is too close and you are manually locking the doors and the system thinks you may have forgotten the FOB inside.

Touch the exterior door handle instead to lock the vehicle. Like prior post said, your methods leaves you vulnerable to locking the key in the car so it won't let you do that. You are aware that you can tap the exterior handle to lock?
