I'm saying run that oil full time, it is diesel oil that contains more detergents and will slowly clean the engine. Another option is Marvel Mystery Oil which you add to your existing oil I have used it but starting to conclude running diesel oil is just as effective.

Run it every 5000 miles and it will slowly get the gunk/sludge out?
So you feel this is better than running something like this before an oil change?

Yes, it does work. If you suspect the engine is badly sludged up shorten the OCI to 3000 miles or even less.
I don't have experience with that product. I tried an Amsoil flush a couple of times (was free via promo) I saw no difference in how I expected the oil to look. Maybe it works but without opening up the engine don't know either way.

Yes. I don't recommend this for the life of the car but if you have oil burning, sludge, gunked up rings etc. then diesel oil is worth a try. Don't expect miracles for example if oil control rings seize solid in the piston no oil or oil additive will fix it.

I am sorry but that's a risk I am not willing to take. But then again my car is not buring oil that bad where I have oil gunk issues. But if I ever run into that problem it's good to know thanks for the heads up.
