These repairs should get them to total your car. It has been posted elsewhere on this forum that more HS250h's are being totaled because they cannot find replacement parts.

And the dealer should repair the brake booster as part of the service protocol. IF you want to pursue them fixing it for free you need to contact Lexus Corporate and complain about the dealer. https://www.lexus.com/contact

The above link will have contact information for Lexus customer service. Or Google it.

If none of this works. I would just sell it to CarMax or trade it in somewhere. I would not try to fix any of this stuff.
FYI the best way to fix the radio is to have an independent car audio specialty shop look at it and maybe get a used one installed.

I havent talked to lexus about the brake booster program, but the radio he said they might not be able to find my radio... I would have to go the used route.
its not the radio that bothers me its the mouse/track pad not working. I need that to work, thats not working, and neither is the mode button on it. So now even if I get the radio fixed who knows if the mouse pad will work ever again... so GPS and stuff like blue tooth wont work so there goes resale value.

I am made because my car runs like new, had the new transmition put in with the recall and its been running smooth ever since. I will write up and email call my insurance and see what I could get if its totalled they already fixed the body work for like $4000+ they have a $10000 limit what happens now? how much can I get for my car?

Will a used radio fix the issue with the mouse pad?

One thing you never fully explained. Whose insurance is paying for this? Is someone else at fault for hitting your car and their insurance is paying for this? Or is your insurance paying because you caused the accident?

The best thing for you financially is for them to total the car. Then they pay you and take the car away. You find another car. It is better than trying to fix this money pit.

Look up the value on your car by going to the CarMax site and getting an online estimate. They can do it based on your license plate or VIN and you answering a few questions. CarFax does this too.

I have no idea (and neither will anyone until they do diagnostics) if replacing the radio will fix the mouse/track pad. It is probably cost prohibitive to try and repair it, which may let them total your car. If you claim it all worked before the accident and that the dealer failed to fix it. There are no new radios for this car. Maybe a few used ones are out there, but they will be hard to find and may not fix your issue. There were only 20,000 HS250h cars imported to the US. There are very few replacement parts for many items unique to the HS250h such as the radio/nav etc.

Also swear up and down that the brake problem did not exist before the accident or their crappy repairs and that you demand the insurance company pay to fix everything or you are getting a lawyer to sue them. It may be worthwhile to find a lemon law attorney in your area although this is not a lemon law case, they will be experienced with car warranty and insurance cases. Just Google search lemon law lawyer in your city/state.

Also do call Lexus as I advised earlier about the brake booster not being covered by the dealer. Save that for after you get an answer from the insurance guys as you may not need to play that card.

Well lexus is going to fix the break booster issue for free, so there might be light at the end if the tunnel!

hopefully I can get the trackpad working again, now that they are fixing the break issue I will see if I can fix the radio issues and just keep the car.

I do have a brand new transmittion, from the recall new breaks, and new brake boosters on my car, along with new bumper and head lights... from the accident, the radio and track pad thing will drive me mad though, I wonder how it will work if I needed a new radio, will my track pad ever work? I could just get a new radio, but if my track pad wont work it will still hurt the resale vaule of my car and I will be forced to trade it in..

the car still runs great even with 187,000 miles, its been the best car I owned, maybe in another year or 2 I will trade it in for a camry hybrid.

I wonder if the prius forums would have any info on trackpad issues? Doesnt the hs250 use the same kind of systems? When I was looikng for fuse issues they seemed to use the same fuse system for the radio

That is great news that Lexus got the dealer to fix the brake booster.
It sounds like the dealer does not want to work on your radio and mouse/trackpad issues. Probably because they have little experience with repairs, they just replace them under warranty.

As I said at least twice before to you, find a local independent car audio specialty shop. Call them up and explain your problem and learn their opinion. Phone calls for advice are free. Some shop will have experience working on a Lexus system with the mouse/trackball as it was used in several models back then. Those are the guys you may want to take it to.

There are used HS250h radios and trackpads on eBay. Here are some of them. I suspect the prices are cheap due to little demand for them. Make sure the pictures match yours as some are probably for the non-navigation model. There are others. After talking to the car audio shop. Tell them you can get the used parts and ask how much it will cost for them to remove your old stuff and install this new used stuff. I bet you could replace the unit and the trackball and get them installed for under $500 at a car audio shop using these ebay parts.

I’m wondering if something wasn’t connected right when the body shop repaired your vehicle. Do you have any of the invoices on what was exactly done? If they touched anything in the dash, could be a loose connection, or a blown fuse/fuses could be the issue.

I’d grab those invoices from the body shop and check it all out, then as clutchless said, talk to an independent audio shop that has experience with lexus vehicles.

That is a great diagnosis and may be correct. It should be checked out before erockzny buys any used parts.

I agree that a sloppy reassembly with a missed wire connection may be the whole problem. Given this dealer body shop's other sloppy and negligent repair work, that would not be surprising. It also explains why the dealer does not want to deal with that possibility and just wants to get rid of the whole thing.
I bet an independent audio shop could investigate and find a missing connection in less than an hour.

well lexus is going to fix the break booster thing for free.

I dont know what I can do to get the track pad to work though, I think I will check the prius forums as they use the same kind of system as the HS250 I think. or maybe some other lexus model someone had to have had some issue with something not working

Re-read posts 19, 20 and 21. Your post seems like you did not even look at them. You keep repeating the same things you posted earlier.
Then find a local car custom audio shop and get them to inspect your mouse issues. It will not cost that much.

A few things you can do yourself.

Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. It is in the trunk hidden behind the rear seat on the passenger side.

Check your fuses. There should be a fuse box under the dash near the steering column and another under the hood on the driver side. Inside the top cover of each should be a guide as to what each fuse protects. Find the radio etc fuses and swap them with another fuse of the same size from somewhere else, or get replacement fuses.

Many Lexus models use the mouse/trackball such as the RX350. I looked at the RX forum and nobody had mouse/trackball issues. I still think they failed to connect something or a fuse blew.
Anyway there are used ones available on eBay. Any car audio store could diagnose this and install the used parts. It looks simple to remove and replace the mouse controller.

I got my car back finally, they fixed the break booster for free. I dont think its a fuse, I took it to Toyota and lexus so they must have checked the fuses, I will have to take it to an radio or alarm place and buy, but I dont think the mouse, because the MODE button the steering wheel doesnt work.

dont know if this guy had my issue

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rc-...-touchpad.html

but I think I will need a used radio? Does everything go through the radio for the trackpad to work? lexus said radio assembly\

https://parts.prestigelexus.com/p/le...612075030.html

dont know if its part of a larger system or something I cant find? track pads and used radios are cheap, I could start there... just want to make sure I get all the parts so I dont have to keep coming back

https://www.ebay.com/itm/25605483130...Bk9SR5jf5J6PYg

thanks for the info on the break booster thing, it saved me thousands and a headache of having to have insurance try to pay for it,

I agree based on what you said that it is most likely the radio or a fuse or forgotton connection during crash repairs or damaged wiriing to the radio from the crash.
If it was my car I would check the fuses myself and not trust the dealer to do a thorough job!
First have a car audio shop check it out before buying parts. They should be able to diagnose it.
Tell them there are lots of used parts on eBay. Then they may tell you to get a used radio etc and come back for them to install it.
