English conversion of JDM HS250h
For people with JDM HS250s, a guy in New Zealand has worked out a recipe to convert the Combination Meter ASSY to print all its messages in English.
The part converted is the first generation HS with the PCS system included. The models after 2013 and the models without PCS use a different meter.
To order the same service, what you've got to do is:
To order the same service, what you've got to do is:
- Determine whether you have the front Pre-Crash system or not
- Upon system start, one of the instrument lamps should be a yellow "PCS"
- There should be a small button under the dash, that when pressed, illuminates the PCS lamp
- If you have PCS and it is an early-model JDM car, then your meter part is 83800-75041. You can obtain the English translation by sending in your Combination Meter ASSY, or else buying a spare one from Yahoo Auctions Japan where they sell for about $30-$40.
- Sit in the driver's seat, grab onto the rear of the vinyl speedometer hood, and yank it toward you until it unclips.
- Turn the car on so the electric telescope motor finishes moving.
- Carefully rotate the speedometer hood toward yourself so that it settles in that 90˚ position
- Adjust the seat, steering wheel and speedometer hood so that you can see and loosen the two Phillips screws in the bottom left and bottom right corners of the Combination Meter ASSY. You can check out the locations of the holes (in the white plastic) in this photo: https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/t1090024882
- If you drop either screw upon disassembly, the screws are caught in the plastic cavity and you're going to be fine.
- Pull the meter toward you to disconnect about four plastic clips.
- Adjust the seat, high and close. Now reach behind the assembly and disconnect the single 40-pin connector. You can remove the meter assembly.
