That above pic is one of the most unflattering ones...it kinda reminds me of some RX 450h shots, for some reason the press photos are not always nicely done, vis a vis wheels, lighting, etc. One thing in particular is that the new Lexus models are designed in studios with outdoors settings, so indoors the car can take on unusual casts because of the different lighting. In that pic the body coloring plus the features and lighting makes for an unappealing picture. Indeed the model is not a big looker, but in darker colors and outdoors I expect it will look better. Now if they could only do something about that front end...

I just hope the HS comes fully equipped (with the tech stuff similar to the Prius), the only option would be like the Mark Levinson sound system.
I have a feeling the HS base price might be like starting at $36k/$38k USD :/
Also my guess is good as anyone elses for the MPG... anywhere between 35-44, due to the increased drag. co, increase in horsepower and weight over the Prius. Would give it decent range before having to refuel, 416.5 miles or 670 km (35 mpg) - 523 miles or 842 km (44 mpg). I used the 11.9 gallon fuel capacity from the Prius, should be the same or maybe slightly.

In all honesty, Paul, I've seen lots worse.....even from Toyota/Scion/Lexus. But, of course, styling is subjective, and in the eye of the beholder.

Pole Position
With the target hybrid market and the other cars (excluding Lexus and Toyota) also in the same general price range I'm looking at an uphill battle.
Can't wait for it to hit our shores so we can stop speculating.

my guess is priced around 35K.
remember that it uses the same underpinnings as the camry hybrid, which gets EPA of 33/34. WIth the extra exhuast heat recirculation and and better cd, im guessing it will get 35/36 or something like that.

HS reminds me a lot of my Prius, very small outside, but VERY ROOMY inside. The interior is leather clad, and the steering wheel has a very thick rim. I noticed that the Electric Motor was much quieter than the 2010 Prius in operation. None of the electic motor whine that was so noticeable on Prius was audible on HS. I wonder what is so different?? However, the pop up nav display is similar to the old IS300 display. Actually it is very similar in sporty feel and layout to the old IS300, except its tons roomier!
The 2.4L is not based at all on the Camry. The Camry is not an Atkinson cycle, but the HS is. The power outputs are also much higher, in keeping with the sporty nature of the HS.

Thanks for the linked pic, interesting details. I am interested in this car, but mainly in its concept, not sure about execution. Also to add, the 30K target was stated a while back, they may revise that downward due to market conditions.

I am at a loss for words why they want to put a grille like that on the HS. If they want a different grill for the dedicated Lexus hybrid, they could have come up with something a lot better
And worse, we've heard it will spread to other future Lexus hybrids too ?
Whoever approved this design should be fired, & their design department needs a major overhaul ...

i dont mind the grill but i dont think this will migrate to other lexus vehicles. it doesnt make sense for lexus to produce the all new RX50h and not add the grill as well. why wait 2 months and "start" adding it on hybrids on the HS?
