how much you wanna bet it'll still sell well, even if it's so damn ugly.

I see a ton of prius owners moving into these.

I like the chrome bar that runs across the bottom of the doors ... I assume that it says hybrid.

with the HS i think they would have been much better off doing something more unique, perhaps even a mini RX type shape.

i continue to think this "susan boyle" of a car will sell.

aging 'sensible types' (i meet lots of 'em) will like it. they'll feel upscale driving a "lexus", feel sensible for driving a hybrid, will like the quiet drivetrain, and won't care that it looks like a corolla with a few extra bits of trim. the only thing that might be a problem is you probably can't get two golf bags in it.

it's not really surprising the enthusiasts here on CL don't care for it though!

i was wondering what it might compete with (besides civic, corolla, prius and insight), and thought about the TSX.

yes, mike, i know you think acuras are ugly, but this hs250 makes the tsx look like megan fox.

but beyond looks, see how similar in specs except for gas mileage of course.

Lexus HS250
187 total horsepower
Width 70.3
Height 59.3
Overall Length 184.8
Wheelbase 106.3
40mpg?

Acura TSX
201 horsepower
Width 72.5
Height 56.7
Overall Length 186.2
Wheelbase 106.6
about 25mpg

so they're similar size, but the tsx is lower, wider, longer, no doubt WAY more fun to drive, and its interior and exterior blows away the HS250

That will make it a hatchback, and the IS300 hatchback sold very poorly, but maybe it will do better for a Lexus hybrid,

Lexus designers really lack imagination designing this HS250h, it should be something really unique, why does it have to borrow the Corolla shape

If they made it a hatchback, it would probably look like the Prius.

I like the HS much better than the 1 series. I think it lacks in the power department. Should be an HS300h. A Lexus with the ailing 2.4L, that's what ya'll should be complaining about.

They probably will offer that blue, as seen in the pics.
But that IS-F blue is the ugliest possible color I've seen on the IS-F, I have seen a few in person & don't like it at all
