Default iPod connection

I recently purchased the HS250h and i connected my iPod via the USB connector and noticed that when I first start the car (with the iPod connected), i always get an error message that says:

Connection error: Please consult the manual for instruction on how to reconnect the USB device or iPod

When i turn off the car and re-start the car, it works... does anyone else have any issues? I don't want to have to start, turn off, then re-start my car every time i want to listen to my iPod.

I've found that I am less likely to get that error if I physically disconnect the ipod before shutting the car off.

yea, i noticed it too. basically, need to pull the usb cord out of the slot when you turn off the car. then, when you re-start later, plug it back in and it works fine.... but how lame that you have to do that.

Default 2nd gen ipod nano too

I had this issue with my iPhone 3GS so I thought I'd try it with my iPod Nano (since the manual said iPhone isn't supported). However, I also get the same issue you guys describe. Very annoying...

I am not having this problem, but might offer one possible solution (based on experience with different cars). Try using a different USB cable. Sometimes they can be buggy and give intermittent connections. A shot in the dark, but an easy (and inexpensive) if it works...

As an alternative for users of the iPhone, consider using BlueTooth instead of USB. In the loaner HS I had a few days, BlueTooth worked flawlessly with my iPhone 3GS.

I use the bluetooth with my iPhone. I have found that occassionally the sound is a little spotty but mostly it works great. HOWEVER, if I switch from bluetooth audio to XM or another audio source and then try to go back to bluetooth it will not connect. Which means it will also not connect phone calls either. Anyone else have that issue?

I've had the same issue. Its silly but a power-recycle seems to fix it every time. Who knew the Lexus OS would be as buggy as a windows OS?

As to the bluetooth --- I have a USB cable connected to the ipod and the iphone connected via bluetooth (from my pocket). It seems to allow me to go back and forth effortlessly. You might want to erase the device and re-set up your bluetooth connection.

When I try to connect my ipod touch to my RX450h with the usb cable it says there are no files on the player, however I can get it to connect via bluetooth. What should happen when I connect with the usb cable? I must be doing something wrong?? There are files there to play. Also, if the ipod is connected via bluetooth, I think I read somewhere that only one bluetooth device could be connected at a time, so if I'm listening to my ipod, my phone would not connect??

I found that if I pause the song on the Bluetooth(BT) before going to XM (i.e., before going off BT), I can come back to BT and it remains connected. Try it and see if that works for you.
