What kind of gas mileage did your Prius get going that fast? The rest of us are just guessing...
We ran a test at 65 MPH it was 50 MPG 70 dropped to 45MPG at 75 it was 40 MPG up at 80 we got 35 MPG we ran each speed for about 10 minutes each.

Default hi

I guess if I were to drive routinely at 90 and cared about mpg, a diesel would be a better option, but the Prius isn't too bad a choice either. On a side note, I read a few years ago that the car that gets the best mpg at 100 is actually a Corvette! Now driving a brick like a Hummer at 90 would be especially dumb to me.

Why not? I drove my HS on several long highway trips this week, and knocked down 35 mpg indicated cruising 78-80 mph. So why wouldn't a Prius get about the same mpg at that speed? It's 700 lbs lighter and has a better coefficient of drag, and a 1.8l engine is more than sufficient to cruise at that speed without stressing the engine.

I read some of the posts from Prius owners and thats pretty impressive...especially at higher speeds. I guess the Prius is King of the city AND highway.

My 1.5 week old Prius V gets about 49 mpg at 70 mph. At 68 mph, i am getting around 50 mpg or so. And this is with the V's 17" rims and fatter tires, which has been known to knock about 1-2 mpg down (bad direction). I do use the Radar cruise control as much as i can...so, that may explain my pretty good numbers. I am sure that if i had IV or III, then i probably would get even better mpgs.

And obviously, my Prius is just barely broken in (just over 900 miles).
