Hi,
Is it normal for the VSC to turn on when the brakes are pressed down when the car is stopped. When I say VSC I mean the car icon with the squiggly lines light up. So I'm at a dead stop, press down on the brakes, brakes lock up with the VSC light turning on, if I leave it alone, it eventually releases the brakes, VSC light turns off. If I step on the brakes again, the VSC light turns off faster than if I left it alone. I'm coming from a GS, don't know if it's normal or time to visit the dealership.
Alex

If by VSC light you mean the icon that looks like a skidding car, then what you're seeing is the "hill start assist" indication, and the car is operating normally. Here's how it works. Stop the car (e.g., on a steep hill at a red light). Assume another car is stopped behind you, and it's just inches away from your bumper. When the light turns green, push the brake further (harder) until the VSC indicator blinks. Take your foot off the brake pedal; the brakes remain applied (the assist feature - keeping you from rolling backward into the car behind you). Put foot on gas pedal and press; the brakes automatically release and the car moves forward.

That's right, never heard of that feature before, that's exactly what it does. Thanks for the explaination, must be a new feature cause my 08 GS350 didn't have it.

I've never seen hill start assist on an automatic tranny before this car, I've only seen them on manual trannies. I guess if you live in San Fran or similar it could be beneficial. This car is just full of surprises, makes you wonder what you'll stumble onto tomorrow.

Works on flat roads as well. So far this system is available on only the HS and the RX. When I got a '10 RX loaner for the first time, I accidentally activated it and the light was blinking and I got the indicator beep. I thought it was some error. Scared me because I was in the middle of traffic and if the car broke down, it would have been embarassing. What I did was shut off the car and restarted it. lol
Then I remembered that this was a new feature. Definately helpful in SF
